Built-in Timer

I'd like to keep track of the time interval between certain events.  I know there are several ways to accomplish this but thought it might be a nice addition.  Examples are tracking run duration and time of event for appliances (A/C, dehumidifier, refrigerator, freezer, etc..,) sump pumps, lights, motion detectors..  (start count - end count in seconds/minutes/hours)

And.. what would really be great is to be able to track these timed events over a period of time (how often and long is my sump pump running?) :-P

If

Control 'sump pump' is switched ON

Or   Status 'sump pump' is ON

Then

        send Notification to 'someone'

Else

        send Notification to 'someone'

Create appropriate notificactions (e.g., on or off)

Many of the elements which you speak about can already be done. But, requires that you first have the ISY-994IZ which allows you to receive energy data from the Brultech ECM-1240 or the Green Eye Monitor (GEM).

Once those two requirements are met you simply create a program to track the appliances in question. I am already doing this with the great help and assistance of Xathros's excellent monitoring programs.

I've read Xathros' post http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13748-energy-monitoring-tracking-run-time/?p=113715 and think it's great and I can use it, however.. I think this can be made simpler and possibly afford data for graphs.

I first started looking into this to monitor how often my dehumidifier was running but started seeing more and more applications for a timer..

I never even thought about using my synchro links in that fashion! Great tip so long as you're just trying to track the run time and not the energy.

Well.. if iMeter were more developed... maybe someone will take over the idea?... 'specially interested in it writing to a .csv file

Hello Jon,

Agreed if the iMeter Solo was supported and more developed. It could have been a very nice Insteon solution for those looking for a cheap alternative point of use energy monitor.
