Jason Flippin Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I am having an issue with my Insteon garage door linc lately where the relay/sensor show up with red exclamations in the ISY. If I unplug the control linc it will seem to function for a few days but then eventually goes back into this broken state. Where does one start troubleshooting an issue like this? I've tried to look in the logs somewhat but haven't been able to figure anything out as of yet. Thanks for any help in advance! Link to comment
stusviews Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 The I/O Linc is powerline only. The red exclamation mark indicates a communication problem. What else is on that circuit? Do you have any dual-band devices on the same circuit as the I/O Linc. Link to comment
Jason Flippin Posted January 16, 2015 Author Share Posted January 16, 2015 The only thing that has changed is I added a PoE network switch at the end of that circuit recently. That is when everything became intermittent. Are switches problematic or could there be something up with the outlet itself? How would one diagnose that? Thanks! Link to comment

stusviews Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 The red exclamation mark indicates a communication problem. There are many things that can interfere, even if they weren't before. Electronics devices do age. What else is on that circuit? Try powering the I/O Linc from another part of the house using a long extension cord. Link to comment
Jason Flippin Posted January 16, 2015 Author Share Posted January 16, 2015 Nothing else on that circuit, but we daisy chained the new outlet the poe switch is on to the I/O Linc outlet. I'll rule it out by unplugging the switch for a few days and if its still there then maybe its the outlet itself. Maybe I can find another place to tie that switch in. Thanks for the assistance. Brian H Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Power supplies in some electronic devices will make power line noise or absorb Insteon power line signals. If you can try a different circuit not tied to the I/OLinc that may help or put the POE's AC power supply on a Filterlinc Link to comment
416to305 Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I had a similar issue, had to move the PLM from the basement to the living room and then it started working for some reason. I have about 5 PoE adapters in my house for the Unifi wifi network and I don't have any issues with interference on anything. Link to comment
