Michel,

Sorry if this isn't really the appropriate forum, but I see that you are listing support for KPL Relay and OutletLinc in this beta - are these new from Smarthome? Any details on availability? I don't see any mention of them on their site...nor did I see any definite signs on the techmall forum. (And for some reason I thought that an "OutletLinc" was against electrical code, but perhaps I'm misremembering.)

Thanks - and I can't wait to jump into Insteon and the ISY!

Hello Neil,

No worries. These are Beta units and we have not yet been given a date for general availability.

I don't know why outletlinc can be against electrical code since X10 + UPB have had similar products for a long time now.

Michel

Michel,

I see everyone's comments about your prompt replies are warranted! Thanks for the info - can I assume that an OutletLinc basically works like a builtin LampLinc (if/when it is ever released)? That would definitely provide a much cleaner look...and probably cause me to delay my LampLinc orders!

And as I said, I probably misremembered about them being against code.

Neil,

Yes, looks like a regular AC outlet with one difference:

One of the outlets is INSTEON controlled and the other is not.

Michel

I went ahead and installed the 2.4.9 update.

Unfortunately, I did add a few devices and create a new scene or 2 with the 2.4.8 firmware, but I no longer have a pre-2.4.8 backup.

Thinks seem OK after the update.

What problems should I be looking out for?

I would doubt that it could be a dimming module.

I installed this updated, but am not seeing any changes. Specifically I checked and:

- Still can’t trigger FAST ON / FAST OFFs from relays

- ‘New Folder’ still creates a folder called ‘New Program’

- Insteon address is not showing in the Device View

My ABOUT screen is showing 2.4.9.

Anyone else seeing this?

From my talks with Lutron some time back... a switched outlet is no problem. However, the dimmed outlet idea is a bit more complicated. If you dim a conventional run of the mill outlet then that is against code. Imagine plugging your vacuum into a dimmer.

Lutron solved this by making a receptacle that has one always on and one that has a special plug for it. I think the blades were turned a strange angle. This made the thing legit, but the downside was that you had to hack off the end of your lamp plug and replace it with one of these special plugs. That was you couldn’t dim you vacuum or coffee maker….

I installed 2.4.9 this morning.

I followed the instructions:

If you have moved devices around to/from scenes – we strongly recommend:

  • To upgrade to 2.4.9
    Export your programs
File->Restore ISY to the backup which you took before installing 2.4.8
    File->Restore Devices
    Import your programs

I can find no way to Export/Import Programs.

When I applied the File->Restore Devices a requestor appeared that my RemoteLinc was not found, Thank you! and Request Failed. But contrary to 2.4, Restore Devices is apparently going through all my devices again, rather than only the failed devices. Which means the RemoteLinc linking mode will probably time out before it is restored.

In my case, I haven't changed anything, just thought I would make certain all the devices were in sync, so all it is costing me is some time before I can delve into 2.4.9.

Thank you and Owl-b-Baac,

Here we go:

http://www.lutron.com/instructions/030825.pdf

http://www.lutron.com/applicationnotes/048085b.pdf

If posting direct links like that to PDF is a no no here search Lutrons support database for application note 048085b for the notes and 030825 for the install instructions and pictures.

EDIT: Tried to make those into clickable links... no luck.

Somehow you lost a colon or two

Very odd. After closing all my Internet Explorer windows, and then re-opening the ISY-26 interface, I saw all the changes.

Almost as if my IE was still running a cached 2.4.8 - even though the ABOUT screen showed 2.4.9.

Weird.

The import/export is available in the popup menu on the program tree. Just right-click on the program tree and you will see it.

    - If you have a program selected, it exports that single program

    - If you have a folder selected, it exports the folder along with everything in the folder.

To export everything, do the export from the root 'My Programs' entry.

Rand,

As usual, you are 100% CORRECT. There were no export functions in 2.4.8! Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Restore Devices???

Hello Michel,

Alright this time, just don't let it happen again

Restore Devices???

Restore Devices took a normal amount of time (~20 minutes) and then displayed the failed devices by name! Thank you for that.

I put my two RemoteLincs in linking mode after the failure and again selected Restore Devices. In v2.4 this would happen very quickly. I assumed it was only restoring the few missing devices. I waited over an hour and then I saw the Request Failed pop up. After that I had to unplug the PLM for some minutes to regain contact between the ISY and my Insteon devices.

Of course, the UDI team has probably fixed that in the overnight update, you seem to always be one step ahead of me :)

When the ball game starts I will play with your program some more, right now I have a railroad to run :)

Thank you,

Rand
