MarioLanning Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Question to thoes that have an Insteon system and an Enphase solar system. I have a 15 Kw system and selected the Insteon system because it will do either over wire communications or raido communications. I currently have it set to use both, and as expected my solar system is not happy about the wire communications. Having several insteon devices in every room though the house I am assuming that I can turn off the wireline communitations and just use the wireles.. Has anyone done this.. What happened over time?
Teken Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 There is currently one device that allows the end user to disable or select RF vs Powerline and that is the latest dual outlet linc. Regarding power line related issues another user has decided to use Enphase's filter module intended for commercial applications. You may want to review that information and decide if its worth the extra costs.
MarioLanning Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Nope, not woth the $750 and another box on the side of the house.. I'm not worried in the least about it as I have not had an electric bill in years. I'll just turn thoes pesky Enphase communications emails off for now. They eventually communicate. Thanks for the input

For the benefit of others in the future can you better describe what you see and experience?
MarioLanning Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Sure, since installing insteon I get daily reports on microinverters that do not report, some up to 12 hours They all eventually start reporting. I contacted Enphase and they did tell me that the Microinverters retain all the data for as long as a month, so no data is lost, I just get the data up to a day later which in my case is not an issue. I am only concered with fatial events like a device produced no power which I have had when an inverter went out.

That is what I thought you would say so thanks for the confirmation on that data point! As I pointed out up top the only current Insteon product that allows RF / Power Line disable is the dual outlet linc. This is something we shall see in next generation of Insteon products as its a CA driver for many.
