ldrinc Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I recently purchased and installed the zwave module into my isy994i. I have a few zigbee compatible lights bulbs that i would like to install and use as extenders. Will the isy994i with the zwave module installed controlled these lights? Do I need to install a zigbee module (if available)?
LeeG Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 ZWave module does not control ZigBee device. The 994i accepts either the ZWave or ZigBee module, not both at the same time.
Teken Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Also to note Zigbee has several different protocols. One of which is energy, HA, etc. So even if you did have Zigbee hardware it would not control the light bulbs. As far as I am aware the current energy module and Zigbee stack only controls TSTAT's and Insteon devices based on ADR load responses. It was asked many years ago to expand the capability of the Zigbee support. Thus far years later nothing has come out of this or any movement in development. Perhaps once alpha / beta 5.XX is released and major bugs are fleshed out. More time and resources can be dedicated to this area. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
Xathros Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 If you pick up a HueHub, you can use that and the ISY Network module to control your Zigbee Lights (Assuming they are compatible with Hue which many seem to be). -Xathros
