ghost program

I at one time created a program that would turn off living room lights during daylight hours after 25 minutes thinking it would save energy. I often need the lights on during the day and deleted the program from the ISY-99 as it was not useful. Somehow, the lights will still turn themselves off after 25 minutes.

I can't figure out where this would still be happening from unless the ISY. It doesn't seem restoring devices would help. I since upgraded from v2.6.4 to 2.6.7 thinking it may help but it continues.

I ran event viewer and switched the lights on via a connected keypad and waited until they went off. Below was what it showed.

The setup is a switchlinc and lamplinc connected as a scene and controlled also via 2 keypad lincs. With no buttons being pushed an off command is still issued 25 minutes later. No program is visible in the program details or summary table.

Any advice on where to go next? Do I need to restore the ISY or the PLM?

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Would you be kind enough to repeat the experiment and this time choose Level 2 for your event viewer. We need to know whether or not you are getting trigger events (ISY programs) or not.

Also, do you happen to have a TimerLinc or a KeypadLinc Timer?

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks for the quick response. I tried it again this evening at the level 2 logging and am posting that below. As it was after sunset when I tried this the lights did not go off after the 25 min delay so I will try it as soon as I can during daylight hours but figured I would post this for now in case it helps figure it out.

There are no timerlincs or keypad timer lincs anywhere in the network. The only intelligent controller is the ISY99-Pro. I couldn't tell if the entries above are from ISY programs or not.

Also, I believe the program I wrote originally left the lights on for a period, then dimmed them as a warning they were about to go off, then turned them off. Don't know if that will help make more sense of the above or not.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Hello Josh,

Thanks so very much and, yes, it does help: I do not see any programs being run.

This sounds very much like ELK; do you have an ELK integrated with your system?

With kind regards,

Michel

I don't have an Elk in the house either. This one is really starting to puzzle me. It looks like there is a line in there after the time events that is calling it to go off. Is there any way to tell what is initiating that?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Josh,

Let me explain these events and then please tell me which device is turning off:

--> someone physically pressed button 1 0D.15.18

2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0D.15.18 00.00.01 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00)

--> ISY sent an On to scene 1D (29) ... you can use ELK Export file (under configuration) to figure out the name of the scene for 1D

2008/11/06 15:00:49 : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.1D CF 11 FF 06 LTONRR (FF)

-->ISY told 0D.15.18 to turn on

2008/11/06 15:00:49 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0D.15.18 0D.FC.49 46 11 01 LTONRR (01)

-->Someone physically turned off 0D.15.18

2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0D.15.18 00.00.01 C7 13 00 LTOFFRR(00)

-->ISY turned of scene 1D (29)

2008/11/06 15:26:43 : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.1D CF 13 00 06 LTOFFRR(00)

-->ISY turned of scene 2A (42)

2008/11/06 15:26:45 : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.2A CF 13 00 06 LTOFFRR(00)

Next steps:

- Make sure 0D.15.18 is not intermittent. I suggest factory resetting it and then do a restore on it.

- Go to programs, and do a search for scene 42 and 29 (you have to find their name). The programs that turn on/off those scenes are probably being triggered by 0D.15.18

Michel

That does help me sort out the events a little more. Here is a little more detail now that I pieced the names with the addresses. I put the names stuff in parentheses after the events.

Here is the scene setup in ISY:

Living Room Lights

-- Back Door KP.C "as controller"

-- Front Door KP.B "as controller

-- Living Room LL "LampLinc responder"

-- Living Room SW "SwitchLinc dimmer as controller"

2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0D.15.18 00.00.01 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00) (switchlinc dimmer I turned on)
2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [ D 15 18 1] DON 0 (switchlinc dimmer v.27)
2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [ D 15 18 1] ST 255 (same switch as above)
2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [ D 48 37 1] ST 255 (lamplinc dimmer v.33)
2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [ E 9 5C 5] ST 255 (Back door Keypad C turned on – scene controller)
2008/11/06 15:00:48 : [ A B4 62 2] ST 255 (Front door Keypad B turned on – scene controller)

The above is the SwitchLinc is pressed, the LampLinc and keypad controller buttons turn on all correctly.

There is now a light on so the ISY updates the All Off LED Status Scene and turns them on correctly.

2008/11/06 15:00:49 : [ A B4 62 8] ST 255 (Front door Keypad H turned on)

25 minutes go by and this event happens:

The SwitchLinc, LampLinc and 2 connected keypad buttons turn off. No one touched any switch in the house at all during this time period. No other controllers are in the house. This same event happens no matter if the switchlinc or either keypad are used to turn on the lights initially.

Then this event happens:

2008/11/06 15:26:43 : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.1D CF 13 00 06 LTOFFRR(00) (ISY turns off the All Off LED’s)

2008/11/06 15:26:43 : [ E 9 5C 6] ST 0
2008/11/06 15:26:43 : [ A B4 62 8] ST 0

The ISY turns off the All On LEDs since the only lights on were just turned off.

I dumped the Elk export file as well as the programs and searched but could not find anything that shed any more light on this. I can post or send them if that would help.

Thanks again,

Josh

Hi Josh,

Thanks so very much for the update. Noting:

....

25 minutes go by and this event happens:

2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0D.15.18 00.00.01 C7 13 00 LTOFFRR(00) (no one touched this switch so this must be where ISY is turning them off still)
2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [ D 15 18 1] DOF 0
2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [ D 15 18 1] ST 0
2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [ D 48 37 1] ST 0
2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [ E 9 5C 5] ST 0
2008/11/06 15:26:42 : [ A B4 62 2] ST 0

I have to conclude that either this device (0D.15.18) is sending an Off command by itself or someone is actually turning it off. The reason is that had this been originated from ISY, first you would've received an ACK (02 62 ...). Now, to rule out the switch itself, would you be kind enough to remove this switch (just pull out the set button and leave it out) and redo the experiment?

With kind regards,

Michel
