How to determine if PLM 2413S is working or not?

Featured Replies

I use both Insteon and Zwave devices without issue. With me using multiple types of systems, I'm on many different forums. I hear the same complaints about Zwave devices that I do with Insteon devices. There is no perfect system. It happens. When I look at the amount of devices sold compared to the amount of complaints, I see a small amount. With that said, it's not the failures that bother me but the response to it. As acknowledged, Smarthomes did increase the capacity of it's PLMs. That sounds like a company trying to fix something instead of allowing it to continue. (tests can only show but so much). Even Apple admits it's devices have a shelf life.

I have my original PLM from when I first bought my ISY. I have a newer version just in case it goes bad but luckily it hasn't yet. For me, I see the difference between when I had older devices and newer devices. If it fails in 2 years, I have a warranty. If it takes takes 3-4 years to replace a PLM so be it. That only means I have newer firmware with whatever capabilities that are added. It's 80 bucks. My girl spends more than that every couple of months in starbucks. We buy 700 dollar phones every couple of years. It's all about perspective.
