sanders2222 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 After 25 years with Comcast, I decided to 'cut the cable' and went with a new ISP. I was furnished a new modem/router combo (cost me 100 bucks) and after making switch, I can no longer connect with either my ELKM1 or IP camera. My ISY cannot communicate with the ELK and ISY programs with ELK conditions are out of control. To make matters worse, my ELKRP software will no longer connect to the ELK so I can't modify any of those settings (see attached). Is there a way to reset the M1XEP to factory default settings? It's been years since I installed this system so I'm not sure I can recall what to do to FIX IT!. Plus I am not good at networking and all the mojo that goes into that. If I uninstall/re-install the ELKRP could it 'find' the M1XEP?If I plug my old router into the new one, would that restore the connections in the network? This solution sounds too simple to be true. IF it is the answer, how would external access get through the two routers? Is there an expert ELK installer in the Seattle area that could help? The ELK web site has no support for consumers, only installers. I know the last time I had network problems establishing a 'static' address to my ISY, I needed experts from Universal Devices to log into my router and FIX IT! Without their help then, I would still have trouble logging in remotely after a power outage. I hope there are experts out there that can help me with reconnecting my ELK. THIS POST WAS RESOLVED 5/7 UNDER NETWORK RESOURCES.
sanders2222 Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 I would think that your LAN IP addresses changed. Indeed they have. Therein lies the problem. I assume the new router cannot assign a new address to the ELK.

Alan M Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Not sure if this will do the trick for you, but the M1XEP PDF manual explain how to reboot the M1XEP to have it either assign itself a static address or accept an assigned DHCP address through setting a jumper and a watching for specific booting sequence (flashing led pattern). You might want to take a peek at the M1XEP installation manual, bottom of page 23 in mine. After doing that, you probably would want to get into the account details section of ElkRP and hit the M1XEP Setup button. From the M1XEP Setup, you click the FIND button. Given that the new router should have assigned the address via DHCP, it would be on the same network and therefore should be findable. Hope this helps.
apostolakisl Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 The Elk finder will find it if the computer running the elk finder is on the same subnet. If your Elk had a static address and that address is on a different subnet, it won't work. You would need to manually change the subnet of the computer that is running Elk RP. In other words, if you used to be on something like 192.168.1.xxx and your new router is on 192.168.2.xxx, and Elk had a static address in the 192.168.1 range, then you won't be able to find it without manually giving your computer a 192.168.1.xxx address. If you don't understand any of that, you could put your old router back in, then try to connect to Elk, see what the IP address settings are, and change it to fit your new network.
