Methos000 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Hi I was wondering if anyone has tried to use one of these with the ISY. I'm looking to do some low voltage landscape lighting and was originally not even thinking of directly automating it (just using an insteon outlet perhaps) but then I ran into this little deal which is Z-Wave and can control up to 3 different channels on one controller. http://www.kichler.com/professional/landscape-lighting/new-landscape-lighting-products/design-pro-led-controller.aspx It seems like a decent idea, I don't see anything competing with it directly. I do like that it neatly bundles all of the things together in one semi elegant package. Is there another way you guys are approaching landscape lighting? I may start another thread just for landscape lighting if I don't get much here in the z-wave forum. I didn't see an obvious place to do so though, where do you recommend if so? Thanks
Xathros Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Looks to me like a pretty sweet setup. Have to wonder what their pricing is for that. Only problem I see with using this on the ISY is that it likely requires MultiChannel support which we don't quite have yet. The 5.X firmware series now in Alpha testing is supposed to be adding MultiChannel support but exactly how soon, I do not know. My current plan is to use 3 dimmable LED drivers powered by either Switchlinc Dimmers or MicroModule dimmers to drive my LED landscape lighting but I haven't installed anything as of yet. -Xathros
G W Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Looks like $774 for the 300 watt version. The 100 watt is $454 http://www.amazon.com/Kichler-Lighting-15DC100-Design-Pro/dp/B00R5NJ5QU
Methos000 Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Yeah it looks to be pretty spendy. I only found a couple listings for it online and it was around 700$ for the 3 channel 300 watt model. So it's certainly not an economy thing by any means. I think i'll wait for 5.0 before i consider adding any crazy functionality like this, you made a good point about the multi channel.
