ISY99 not updating the EZIO8SA status

I finally got time to get my EZIO8SA working with my ISY. But I am having an issue with the staus of my inputs. I have to manually query the EZIO status to see any changes on inputs. Of course my programs won't run if the status of the inputs doesn't change on the ISY. Do you guys have similiar issues or any suggestions on how I can get the EZIO to show changes on my inputs (without doing a manual query on the device in the admin console)?

Would be thankful for any help...

Hi Redrox,

This is a known issue with EZxx devices based on the newer PLMs. With SHN's help, we are working on a solution which we should have within the next 3 weeks.

Thanks so very much for your patience,

With kind regards,

Michel

Are there any updates to this known problem. I have 2 EZIO2x4's for garage door status and motion detection and am not able to use either without performing a manual query.

Thanks...

Hello copperstar,

Apologies for not maintaining this post up to date.

We have not had any success in getting any of the EZIO devices to work reliably and consistently with ISY. We are going to spend another week (and through trial and error) to figure out if we can find a process that works with the majority of EZIO devices (if not all).

With kind regards,

Michel

Hello copperstar,

My pleasure. We are currently testing IOLinc and it seems to be reliable. There will also be TriggerLinc in January.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks Micheal for the update.

Is there an insteon input device that you know of that does give a reliable reading to the ISY.

Thanks again for your help on this.

Thanks again for the very quick response.

As an update, I just deleted the 2 EXIO2x4's from my ISY and re-installed them and they seem to be working fine now. Both the garage door and the motion detector are receiving instantaneous signals now. I will keep you advised if any further problems.

I am new to the ISY, previously running Homeseer with the insteon plug in, now testing the ISY99 plug in for homeseer.

Thanks again...

Hello copperstar,

Thanks so very much for the update. That's precisely what we are encountering here: it works once in a while. We still haven't been able to figure out the secret code which makes ISY configure EZxx correctly all the time.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hello Michel,

you said there should be a solution within three weeks. This was posted 6 weeks ago. Are there any updates on this yet?

Redrox,

Apologies ... as you can see from the amount of traffic on the forum, we're still trying to get our hands around INSTEON/i2. As such, EZxxx issues shall be addressed when we are comfortable with all i2 devices.

With kind regards,

Michel

My EZIO2X4 failed and after I replaced it with a new one I now have the same issue described here regarding inputs not updating automatically. Different firmware, I suppose?

Therefore I will also be waiting for a fix.

Hi George,

Yes. We are slowly starting to work on it again.

Hello all,

since it has been over half a year now, I would like to know if there will ever be a solution for this issue? Even with FW 2.7.4 the EZ i/o input status is still not getting updated without doing a manual query on the device? It seems like the ISY is only good for some basic devices like dimmers and switches/lamplincs. Most of everything else just doesn't work right with the ISY. I am just wondering if there is a better solution (one that actually works with all Insteon devices) than the ISY out there? For some users this might not be important but I need a reliable solution that can process an easy input/output status on connected Insteon devices.

I would be thankful for any recommendation!

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello Redrox,

I do understand your frustration because so are we. This said, however, I do take issue with "Most of everything else just doesn't work right with the ISY". From our perspective, most everything else is limited to:

1. SHN devices for which we have not been able to find a solution no matter what we have tried

2. IRLinc Transmitter

3. SeriaLinc

If there are other devices that you were planning to integrate with ISY and that do not work, I would be very eager to know about them. If you are looking for more integration with SHN devices, you may want to use SHN's EZServe.

With kind regards,

Michel

My EZIO2x4 just failed so they sent me another one. I now have the same problem with the inputs not updating when my garage doors open or close. Is there a solution for this? I dont understand why my previous one worked flawlessly until an output relay failed?? I am running 2.7.0.

Hi Joe,

Unfortunately, the main issue is the newer firmware for EZIO devices and our complete lack of understanding of what has changed between versions (that's why your old one works and the new one.

As such, unfortunately so, there's probably no easy way of fixing this issue.

With kind regards,

Michel

Just wanted to add that I just received a new EZIO2x4 from Smarthome about 2-3 weeks back, and it has been performing fine. You might want to remove, factory reset, and re-add it to the ISY again.

Does the EZIO LED flicker when the sensor state changes?

Posted

Michael,

The light does flicker when the doors open or close like the ezio is sending something out.

What is the best way to factory reset the ezio? I have not been able to find that.

And for adding it, I just used the start linking function, is there s specific way that you added yours?

Thanks!!

I just assume the typical Smarthome factory reset - unplug for 30 seconds, hold SET button, plug-in while holding SET button, release after 10-15 seconds.

I believe I added it by "New INSTEON Device", then typing the address manually (but leaving the Device Type at Auto).

Michael,

That did the trick!! Thank you very much. I guess the EZIO devices are picky about how they are linked.

Now I dont have to lay in bed wondering if I remembered to shut the garage doors. Its amazing how much one relys on this stuff; once you have it, it is hard to go without.
