SwitchLinc Dimmer (2474DWH) Communication Issues

Recommended Posts

I have a SwitchLinc 2474DWH (no neutrals) that is not working properly. I never had issues in the past. When I login to the ISY control panel, I receive a message stating that it cannot communicate with the device. I reset the switch by pulling the LED,  deleting it within ISY, and then manually readding the device. This fixed the problem for a day, but I am having problems again. Is it possible that the switch is bad?

This is all that I see in the log:

Did you recently change the type of bulb?

Devices without a neutral connected rely on the return current through the load. LEDs and CFLs have nasty waveforms that the power supply has to work through. If already using an LED bulb possibly something inside the bulb's power supply burned out eg a cooked capacitor used for filtering.

Try an incandescent bulb to determine if this is part of the problem.

The 2-wire dimmer is designed to work with incandescent bulbs ONLY!!!  Unexpected results may occur using any other bulbs.
