getting an error message for the ISY default SMTP server when trying to send emails, just a generic communication failed. Is the default SMTP server for the ISY still working, or do I have to use a Gmail or some other SMTP server?

UDI has indicated there default mail server is often over loaded or delayed. It has been suggested everyone moving forward use their own personal GMAIL account.

I haven't seen any issues with sms / e-mails from the ISY Series Controller since doing so.

seems like an important thing to just push to the wayside, would have been nice to get a notification of some kind that this feature is no longer working.

Moving forward you have a solid solution to the problem at hand.

FIXED! looks like it was my home firewall blocking the outbound connection, so false alarm, all is well. Thanks!

Its advisable not to use the default service. There can be spells where messages can take a while to get through.

Its very easy to set up a gmail account for the purposes of your house and use it.
