ezio2x4 swap input status on/off?

HI,

 

Is it possible to swap the on/off state of an input?  I have a magnetic door contact connected to an input and when the door is closed it shows as on.  I want it to be the reverse of this, or at least the insteon commands it sends to be the opposite.   I am looking at it in the Smartenit utility and my device and I don't see an way to accomplish this.

Sorry, the EZIOxxx family of devices do not have a Trigger Reverse option.  The type of magnetic or mechanical switch (NO or NC) controls the EZIO2X4 Input On/Off state.

Which suggested swapping the off to on and on to off commands might be able to accomplish this.  Will this method not work for the ezio4x2?

My apologies.   That 2008 post describes changing the Off to On and On to Off commands.  

 

I successfully tested the change on Input 2 of an EZIO6I.   All the EZIOxxx devices use the same commands for configuration.

 

I do not recommend this, you need to understand how the EZIOxxx device is configured under the ISY.   Changing the switch is a much safer approach.

Thanks for update.   The ISY uses a set of Group numbers for the Inputs that are unique to the ISY.  Along with other options that can be set it would have been very easy to set an Input that would not be functional under the ISY

 

Changing the magnetic switch is the best approach.

So if I wish to trigger my garage ceiling lighting to go on when the garage door opens (contacts are NC) I can do so using the Smartenit EZIO2S4 instead of the Insteon 2450 via software? I thought the EZIO2X4 relays are NO?

You can use either one. An ISY program can control the garage lights

 

If

   garagecontacts turn off (Vs turn on, an ISY program can monitor either state for either device)

Then

  set garagelights on

  Wait 15 minutes

  set garagelights off

Thanks for the quick reply and programming. In order to use two separate garage doors in my system to turn on the garage lights I thought I'd have to use two IOLincs (Insteon 2450) which represented a problem to find a nearby receptacle to plug in another device. I was thinking since the EZIO2X4 had multiple inputs and outputs that it would've been the solution (only need one device receiving two separate garage door signals) however what was holding me back from using the EZIO2X4 was the NO state for the outputs. Now I can run both garage doors into the the one device (EZIO2X4) istead of separate 2450's. Thanks again.

As paulbates has already indicated an EXIO2X4 works as I use one.    There are some things to consider.  

 

The two EZIO2X4 Relays operate in latching mode by default.  That means if driven from an ISY Program the Relays must be turned Off after a second or two.  Or use the Simplehomenet Utility Suite (free software package that runs on Windows and requires a PLM) to set the EZIO2X4 Configuration to enable the Relay timers and set for Seconds as well as setting each relay timer to 1 or 2 seconds. 

 

The EZIO2X4 first two opto-isolated Inputs are Off until a switch applies 3-30 volts DC to turn Input On.   The EZIO2X4 has a +5V connection which can be used to turn On the Inputs.  Although the Inputs can be reversed (like using I/O Linc Trigger Reverse)  I recommend using a magnetic switch that provides the desired door Closed state.   Normally that is a switch that is open when door is closed.   I won't describe that as NO or NC because it depends on whether the magnetic switch is expected to be used for security or industrial use.   Unfortunately a switch that is open when the door is closed has opposite designation depending on if it is a security switch or an industry switch.
