Can I Restore IR/Pro Baks into ZW IR/Pro?...

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm upgrading from a 994i IR/Pro, to a ZW IR/Pro, including a new PLM.

I still have both units and both PLMs are fully functional.

All Insteon devices in my fully-installed home were set up and programmed using the IR/Pro and its PLM and I have copious backups under that earlier system.

Now the problem:

I have just swapped in the ZW unit and its new PLM.  I tried to Restore a backup from my IR/Pro, into the ZW...and it balked.  Tried another backup...balked the same way.

....Which brings me to ask, Am I going to have to re-write all my programs, re-spider, and basically rebuild everything I had on the IR/Pro, to get it onto the ZW IR/Pro?

IR/Pro was running 4.3.10;

ZW was running 4.3.20 when I tried the Restore efforts.  (maybe this is my problem?...)

Java is 8 60, cache was appropriately cleared.

All help appreciated.

BTW there are NO Z-Wave devices involved at this point; I'm making the jump now because I've moved to a new (Insteon) home.  I initially brought the original IR/Pro with me but now am including it in sale of my old house.

Thx, ML

If it were me, I would upgrade the first ISY and PLM to the same version, then backup.

Then swap out just the ISY first followed by the PLM. Make sure everything works before and after each step. Make sure to clear Java cache between updates and ISY swaps.

Also if you are trying this on Mac OS, I would use the specific link in the release note to launch the admin console for Mac OS. Otherwise you may have issues saving / restoring backups.

Thank you Elvisimprsntr,

"Cone of Shame" time for me, I should have tried matching fw versions before writing.  But I followed your advice and now all is well.

Thanks again!
