Teken Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 The other day I had the time to update my controller to the latest 4.3.20 RC7. One of my favorite pass times is to review each element in the system for new and exciting features. Upon selecting the *New Insteon Device* icon I noted there were many new devices with updated model numbers. A few moments of on line sleuthing via EVIL Google search resulted in a few eye openers. The following devices are currently in the works and there is no ETA for release. But having said this it does bode well to say much of long awaited device updates are under way and I have to personally thank Smarthome / Smartlabs for taking the time to update the product line. In no specific order the following items were obtained via several sites I saw. The items of interest to me were the new offerings: Global PLM, Heat Pump TSTAT, Dual Band I/O Linc, iMeter Breaker?, Power Strip iMeter, Window Shades, Door Sensor II. Having said this I have seen in the past where Smartlabs has preemptively created device cat / sub cat / SKU's for place holders. It does not mean that the product will come to market but simply they planned ahead to have blocks of categories called out should a product ever get past R&D. But its safe to say if we see the same Insteon product ID in the ISY Series Controller it wasn't added because it was nice to have! Ha . . . I have dreamed about a dual band I/O Linc for ages . . . I am unsure what GE Water Heater U-Snap is but if its a method to have native Insteon control of a HWT that is awesome! They also have a Lumistat?!?!? I guess what shocked me the most was the call out of two separate PLM's?!?!? One being the Global one 2413Gxx and the other 2413SAD. I am hoping the Global 2413GXX is the UDI version that has been waiting for Insteon chip approval and the other is the Smartlabs version 2413SAD. If not this is a huge blow to UDI who has been hard at work to bring to market a solid PLM for the ISY Series customers and those around the world. I am unsure why the formatting of my chart came out so jumbled but the preview shows all rows and columns just fine WTF??? Anyways, it always seems Brian H and I are in a race to bring new information to the group. This time I beat him to the punch! Ha . . . I love you Brian H . . . larryllix Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Nice. I find this lack of format spacing happens randomly to me when posting programs at times. Try editing and reposting while clicking some of the options. The top left one disables them all too. Where is the punch being served?
paulbates Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Good stuff Teken, thanks for the thorough review. Some interesting power goodies in there in there like the Power Strip with iMeter and SynchroLinc and Insteon Digital Meter Reader. Do you think that meter reader is zigbee on one side and Insteon RF of the other? I'm guessing the PLM SAD with "auto detect 128K" means that they are increasing the baud serial line speed of the PLM? Since Insteon devices communicate at 2.8K sustained and 13k burst, I didn't think the current 19k speed was a performance issue, eg Insteon devices are slower than that. Wonder if "Global PLM" is fancy way of saying "its the serial PLM in the Hub case" instead of the traditional PLM case? Yeh the formatting does not publish in the final view. It looks like that is their global collaboration site. It gives great documentation on their HUB api, but nothing at the Insteon protocol level, which is what we need to see when device features change. In poking around, I also found out that the new Alljoyn Hub development is being managed there too.
Teken Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 I gave up trying to figure out why this stupid thing won't format correctly so here is the word document unedited. EDIT: The system says I can't append a word document? I give up not worth the time and aggravation to format something that should be so simple.

As I noted in older e-docs the cat / sub cats were predefined by Smartlabs long ago. The difference here is there are actual device part numbers which never existed before. Based on past experience part numbers are reserved for products in development. So given the fact the ISY already has (some) of them listed this indicates these products are well past the R&D stage and pending retail sales release. I certainly hope the Global PLM is indeed a Smartlabs version and is not a block to UDI's own hardware.
