ISY can't control Smart Switch

Hi all.  I recently received my 994izw and added a few z-wave products.  Everything seems to be working except my Smart Switch.  Here are the particulars.

ISY Firmware 4.3.18

Z-wave version 4.55

Aeon Labs Smart Switch 6 with energy monitoring Gen 5

Did an exclusion first, then an inclusion.  Added into the ISY fine as 3 nodes.

ZW 007 Energy Meter

ZW 007 Mutilevel Switch

ZW 007 On-Off Power Switch

Here is the problem, no matter what I try, I can not turn the Smart Switch on or off via the ISY.  However when I hit the button on the Smart Switch it turns on and updates the ISY on its status immediately  :? .

Here is a log from the event viewer.

Wed 10/21/2015 05:00:12 PM : [   ZW007_143]       CV 12402 (uom=72 prec=2)<---Smart Switch turned off via button Success

The DON & DOF was when I tried turning on and off on the ISY.  What could be my problem??

Hope I provided enough information, let me know if you need anything else.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Since you refer to DON and DOF, I assume you are using the API.. Does turning on and off work in the admin console?

What device node are you using in your API call? [ZW007_1] or [ZW007_143] or [ZW007_119] Not sure which one is the correct one for this device (from memory) - but have you tried each?

MWareman I have to admit I pretty new to all this, so I'm not sure what the API is.

I connect to ISY admin console through the java application, and was using the on & off buttons on the node screen without success.  I pulled the text from the event viewer when I pressed the various buttons.

PS I believe node 1 is the ON-OFF Switch, node 119 is the Multilevel Switch and 143 is the Energy Meter

Thanks for the information Michel.  I assume that if the issue is resolved it would be in a firmware update and mentioned in the post.

Will keep an eye out for any more information.

Hi LDWelton,

I am so very sorry to hear. This is a known issue with our support for this specific switch. We are currently working on it alas I cannot give you an ETA.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel, what issues are you investigating with the Smart Switch 6? I've been using it for a few months and am not experiencing the problem described by LDWelton.

When I install it using ISY version 4.3.26 there are two devices: "On-Off Power Switch" and "Energy Meter." Following is a log from a few minutes ago when I turned it on/off via ISY:

Hi Scott847.  Thanks for your response, I'll try upgrading to 4.3.26 and see what happens.

I thought it odd that I had three nodes (on-off, dimmer & energy meter).

I'll let you & Michel duke out the tech stuff.  I'm more of a plug & play kinda guy.

Lloyd, FYI there's an option to add the Smart Switch 6 as a secure device. To do this you double-tap the button on the Smart Switch instead of single-tapping after putting ISY into include mode. I'm not aware of all the pros/cons of it being secure and I also don't think it should exhibit the problem you encountered either way.

Anyway, following is the log from when I added a new Smart Switch 6 yesterday (note the "adding secure Z-Wave device" line):

Keep getting three node instead of two, which to me seems odd to have a on-off & multilevel ( which I take to be a dimmer). Neither of which work to control the switch.

Lloyd, I forgot I did one other thing after installing, which perhaps fixes the problem you're encountering. If you right click on the ISY Smart Switch device, then Z-Wave, then Synchronize you may find it fixes the problem.

I did this yesterday after the initial install. Following is the log from the Synchronize:

Wed 10/21/2015 04:12:53 PM : [ZWAVE-NODE-SYNC] ---- Start Processing Z-Wave Node 27 (0x1B) ----

Perhaps this is the issue Michel was referring to and a permanent fix is needed to avoid needing a Synchronize after the initial install.

Pretty sure you would have to be on the alpha 5.0.4 to have multi channel support.

http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/18711-release-504-alpha-is-now-available/

Just make sure you read everything! It is not primetime yet...not even beta yet.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll wait for the stable 5.x version. Patience is always rewarded :-P. I'll use it just as a power meter for the time being

FWIW, I have avoided much gray hair and bloodshot eyes by simply waiting for the stable 5.x. I still have plenty of things to experiment with and I actually am able to enjoy my free hobby time. I strongly urge anyone not very familiar with these systems to go this route.

5.x will be here soon and there is no lack of things to do with the current version.
