a new personal image wouldn't hurt either!!!

thanks for helping

the timing could not be worse for me but as with electronics it is the nature of the beast

Can you take a look at your router configuration and get the IP address of the ISY, if so you should then be able to access using a browser.

What browser and operating system are you using?

ok.  what settings do I need to talk to the isy via serial?  baud, stop, bits....

From this posting...  I haven't attempted this so don't have much further info.

use Hyperterminal (or any other terminal application) to connect to the USB port on your computer:

115200, 8, 1, None

Once connected, then login to ISY shell and on the prompt, type:

CT

(followed by enter)

In CT, you will configure your ISY

I am a network engineer.  The ISY is not getting an IP address.  I have network smart switch and can look at switch to see all info.  I have scanned the network and no ips for the ISY

You might set it for DHCP and see what happens..

from manual...

Requesting a DHCP Assigned IP Address

When prompted for IP Address, enter 0.0.0.0

When prompted for NetMask, ignore

When prompted for Gateway, ignore

When prompted for DNS Server, ignore

When prompted with Save Changes, enter Y.

The system will reboot and attempt to get DHCP assigned TCP/IP information upon system start.

Edit: Have you tried plugging directly into the modem?

I really doubt this but possible.  Have you tried plugging directly into your modem, bypassing the switch?

I am confused by your terms..

plug what directly in to Modem?

what switch?

I have USB/Serial plugged directly into the ISY.

when plug in network cable it does not come up on the network

I have scanned the entire network and the device is NOT on the network.  I have software to identify all IPs on network

I have smart network switches and it isn't there

How do you connect to the internet :)  I understood you were behind a switch that is then connected to what?

Once you configure via USB disconnect and reconnect as direct as you can to your network.. bypass any switch.

I see IP for device is what i set it to but still no response when on network

Try disabling your firewall

Which browser and operating system are you using?

I have a network switch that is plugged into a Cisco ASA

remember, this all worked  until I attempted to upgrade the ISY software

Firewall is NOT enabled

Chrome, IE, Firefox but if there is no ip address this would be irrelevant

Windows 10, OS X.  take your pick again same as above, if no ip address then....

Whatever was changed during the update and for whatever reason if you want to work on this before support can with you then you need to get it visible on the network.  I suspect the Cisco has an internal switch with a number of ports you could use to plug directly into?  I would attempt that to see if it's visible to the Cisco router.

Edit.. maintain the DHCP setting for ISY.

Try to access the ISY via this link  http://isy.universal...994i/admin.jnlp

If all else fails then submit a support ticket to:

http://www.universal-devices.com/contact-support

They'll get you up and running.
