I have 3 modules used to control Christmas Lights. These 3 show up red in the device tree. An inspection of the device's information shows them correctly as responders. The "Controller for" field is blank. I may be just having a senior moment buy why are the devices red?

Did you disable them last year? I just got mine out yesterday for this year and step 1 was to re-enable. I don't want false errors the rest of the year when they are not plugged in.

Yes, that was the first thing I did.

Another thing, the devices that are not red have a bulb shaped icon. Those that are red have a rectangle shaped box next to them.

A bulb shaped icon represents an Insteon LED bulb. Try deleting the module then reinstalling it.

I have 4 LampLincs on this system from v.28 to v.3B.   They are Red as they are Controllers.  What Firmware and UI levels are being used (Help | About)?

smokegrub, are you viewing devices or scenes?

I did and it loaded as a controller, i.e., red.

Both. They are red in the scenes and as devices. Weird. And, as I noted previously, nothing is shown as being controlled by these devices.

LampLincs are Controllers (Red) whether they are actually functioning as a Controller or Responder.

Same with other devices such as SwitchLincs which are Controllers (Red) whether they are actually controlling another device.

Reviewed mine and I have a mix. Older, 1st generation lamplincs do not show up red. I have a newer appliance link, it does not do this.

I do have one newer lamplinc, and it does show up red like yours. Its a responder only to a keypad key, and a scene.

I appreciate the feedback. I factory reset one of the devices and it linked as a controller! That, given the feedback, causes me to conclude that the color of the icons is of no concern from an operational perspective. Sure would be nice if this "bug" were addressed so the display convention remained consistent for all devices.

Still need to know Firmware and UI Levels.

The color of the LampLinc in a Scene is based on whether the LampLinc was added to the Scene as a Controller (will be Red) or added as a Responder (not Red).

Most of my devices are red in the device tree, some are blue. In scenes controllers are bright red and responders are bright blue. As LeeG indicated, that's true for scenes even if the controller has no responders or the responder has no controllers.

I just checked and the devices in question are red whereas controllers in scenes are bright red. I had not picked up on that distinction.
