After ISY port install, no portal tab under configuration

Did the purchase and install and when I went to configuration>portal, there is no portal tab there.  It was there prior to the install for my MobiLinc module.

I've rebooted both the ISY and the admin console, but no joy.  And without configuration, I cannot connect Echo to Isy.

Ideas?  Suggestions?     See screen shot attached.

Your UI is out of date.  UI should match the firmware version.  Clear your java cache and then download the JNLP for the console from the 4.3.26 release post.

Thanks Xathros -  Once I figured out how to clear the cache on Mac Yosemite and did the reinstall,  that solved that problem -  Configuration now had the portal tab and I was able to approve requested services.

Now I have to work on getting Echo to actually turn something on.  Even though I told Izzy to refresh devices - and got a correct count - asking Izzy to turn on any device results in no action - just Alexa asking "which device?"   None of the names i use for my various lamps seems to work.

Not sure what the problem is,  but I'll keep working on it.

Thanks again.

Try assigning a spoken phrase (one or two word) for each device (right click device in UI and select notes) then have Alexa refresh.

address Alexas:  Alexa, tell izzy TO...

And refrain from calling devices Lights or Lamps.  Alexa is having a problem with things named lights & lamps at the moment. So, for example, instead of "Kitchen Lights" in the spoken field,  use just "Kitchen".

I renamed my devices to remove "lamp and light", then went into notes and put the new names into the "spoken" slot.   Had Izzie refresh device list.

But out of a half dozen devices (most of which are dual band lamp dimmers)  only 1 responded to a Izzy turn on command  -  a on/off wall switch controlling an overhead kitchen fluorescent.

Are the lamp dimmers not compatible with Echo/Izzy commands?

Can izzy turn on a scene such as "tv watching"?

Sorry for all the questions,  but I'm a newbie at this,  and your help has been invaluable.

Thanks!

What names are not working for you?  Izzy CAN address scenes.  Just set the spoken name for the scene in the same way you do for a device.  Make sure there are no duplicate names (Don't use same spoken name for a scene and a device).

Check the Alexa app to see if Alexa is understanding your requests.  In my testing I have found that Alexa can misunderstand "...tell Izzy to...' as "...tell it to...".  When that happens, the commands fail as they don't get passed to the Izzy skill.

Hope this helps.

Kitchen is the one name that works for me.

Names that don't work:  sun porch, reading, track, fireplace, sofa table, kitchen cabinet

After saying ,"Alexa tell izzy to turn on" any of these, Alexa responds "turn on which device?"  Does that mean that none of these words are in her vocabulary?

It would be helpful if the app would display the list of devices that Alexa has recognized/refreshed.

btw -  app shows that command was heard correctly by Alexa about 90% of the time.

The next update to the skill will offer much better recognition I suspect.  That said... there's a thread where you can drop suggestions for words to be added..

If Alexa is recognizing your commands accurately then the vocabulary is the problem as Jon alluded to above. I suspect that once the Connected Home portion of the ISY goes live, these problems will disappear.

Are vocabularies specific to skills?   I ask because the Insteon Echo web page uses the word "lamp" in a number of their examples of how the system works.

I think there's something else at work here (in my system).  I used the word "fireplace" to designate a lamplinc module by the fireplace.  Alexa recognizes the word and says, " turning fireplace on", but the light connected to that module does NOT turn on.

I think Alexa has a standard vocabulary in that the spoken word "lamp" will be recognized and translated into textual content "lamp" which then gets applied to the skill.  It seems the problem at this time is how the skill is using the the device name and/or spoken field to define the device e.g., fireplace lamplinc = node  xx.xx.xx

Thanks Jon -

I get a little discouraged when I see some guy with 40 devices leave a skill review that is 5 stars and he says all 40 are working just fine.

Don't get discouraged because it will get much better.  For now you might avoid using light or lamp in the spoken field and limit to one word.

I've found that entering one word spoken works best for me. Reliability is very poor if I add more than one spoken word. As Jon, said it will get better. There's already been improvements and I have full confidence that UDI will be working to make it better. Like everyone else, I'm anxious to see the improvements, but at the same time it's fun and interesting being able to take part in the development of this feature.

Same problem for me.  All up to date, but the only portal I see is MobiLinc.  I have the ISY portal active as per the buy modules screen, but it won't show up in the portals tab.  UI version matches firmware version 4.3.26.  Manage modules gives me nothing.  Any other ideas?

Thanks

I've forgotten the exact series of events but after purchasing you'll receive an email that you need to acknowledge.  I believe then you log into the portal and assign your uuid for the isy.   Then check your UI > manage modules > portal.

If you don't receive an email verification after purchase check your spam folder or contact UDI.

Here's the installation procedure for the portal...

Installation Instructions

Installing a module is very simple:

- Login to the Admin Console or the Dashboard

- Click on Help | Manage Modules menu item

- You will be prompted to install your purchased module. Please click the Yes button. In case of error, please see Trouble Shooting

- ISY will reboot and your module is ready to be used!

- Note:If you have installed ISY Portal Module (21075) Please continue to ISY Portal Configuration

ISY Portal Post Installation Configuration

There are three steps for having ISY communicate through ISY Portal

1. Creating an account on ISY Portal if one does not exist (click on the Create new account link). If one already exists, simply login

2. Registering ISY with your account in ISY Portal using ISY’s UUID (Help | About – also included in your invoice). To do this click on the Add ISY button and copy/paste the UUID from your invoice or order notification

3. Giving permission to ISY to communicate with ISY Portal

  a. Login to the Admin Console

  b. Click Configuration | Portals tab

  c. You will see a request for access from your account in ISY Portal

  d. Approve it

  e. You are done!

Trouble Shooting

The most likely error is ISY not being able to contact the server to update the installation record. If you have configured ISY with a static IP address, please consider

- Reverting to DHCP, Or

- Use 8.8.4.4 for the DNS server

Thanks, still no luck.  I signed up in 12/2014 for the ISY Portal.  Setup an account, never get anything more than the MobiLinc portal option.  Frankly, it shouldn't be this hard.

Its sounds to me as though you haven't completed step 2. in the "ISY Portal Post Installation Configuration."

>>Log into Portal, click on the Add ISY button and copy/paste the UUID from your invoice or order notification (then go onto step 3 :)

Once properly installed and configured you will no longer see Portal Integration for Mobilinc Connect.

If all else fails you can open a ticket with UDI and they'll straighten it out for you.

You image shows the MobiLinc portal, not the UDI portal. The portal you want looks like the attached image

You'll need to delete the Mobilinc portal. Only one portal can be assigned at a time.

How do I delete the MobiLinc portal?  I can't find a delete anywhere.

David,

I didn't have to delete the Mobilinc portal. If my memory serves me correctly, that happened when I registered the UDI portal.

What happens when you click on this link ISY Portal
