James Peterson Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I am trying to test the dusk/dawn functionality on my motion sensors and it does not seem to be working. I have set night mode on the motion sensor, but it is not reporting back as in dusk.dawn mode. the MS is in a box right now with no light and it does respond to motion.
LeeG Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) It needs to be absolutely black for more than 3.5 minutes for Dusk-Dawn to change. Was the Motion Sensor put into linking mode before setting Night mode? Can check link record table to be sure there are 3 E2 link records pointing to the PLM. Edited January 10, 2016 by LeeG
LeeG Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Here is sample of Motion Sensor link table. Link 0,1,2 are required for the three Motion Sensor functions to communicate with PLM.
James Peterson Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Here is my links table. I have the MS in a box. and under a blanket. It should be dark enough. Yes the MS was in set mode for updating.
LeeG Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Link table looks good. The PLM looks like it is in that category of possible failing capacitors so the Responder link in the PLM for Dusk-Dawn could be missing. Could verify the Responder link (starts with A2, Group 2, with Motion Sensor address) is in PLM. If the PLM has the required Responder link the Motion Sensor itself is in question. I verified that 4.4.2 is showing Dusk-Dawn Off and On. Although the next string of Betas after 4.3.26 there were no changes for MS Dusk-Dawn.
James Peterson Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 This might be a problem with my MS. I factory reset it and reconnected it. Now it is stuck on Dusk/Dawn mode.

Read and understand what LeeG posted. Have you taken the MS out of linking mode each time when done? I set my Darkness sensitivities about 75. Under a blanket probably may not be dark enough to trigger that setting level. Turn off your Dark only mode, do your experimenting and then re set the setting as you like. Most of us only use the On response as the Off takes battery power and sends useless commands. ISY can do and vary your off timing. A very obscure instruction, in the manual, will also inform you that you can tap the link button seven times rapidly and the MS will send the Dark/Light signal with less than a few seconds to adjust for the brightness change. shhhh.... This is a secret command found under the "Right Dial adjustment" so don't spread it around. Edited January 10, 2016 by larryllix

Whatever it was. eh.... its working. thx Edited January 10, 2016 by James Peterson
larryllix Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Well using that 7x I seem to been able to get it to work. Whatever it was. eh.... its working. thx I also think some of these MS units sleep for a few minutes after you enter linking mode. They seem to clear up weird stuff a few minutes later sometimes. I thought I read somewhere to always press the link button a few more times to re-activate it after linking. Not sure that is valid but it does confirm the status is working as it alternates it On and Off. Most people set their MS units to not send Off and that is the only time I ever see the signal. Nice to see it working for you. MSes can be a little touchy.
