someguy Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 If I have a switch that I "restore" without factory resetting it, what will that accomplish? will it remove any broken links? here is the scenario: I have a controllinc that is giving me some trouble, I'd like to factory reset it and then restore all of the previously linked switches in hopes that this would remove the controllinc association.
Sub-Routine Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Resetting a controller does not remove links in responding devices. To remove all those links you would direct the ISY to remove the controller. The ISY will use it's database to determine what devices are linked to the controller and remove those links from those responders. If the ISY does not know about the link it cannot remove it. In that case the responding device would have to be restored to remove the link from the controller. So besides doing a restore on the ControLinc you should run a restore on any devices that aren't reacting correctly to the ControLinc. Rand
someguy Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 My ISY is not aware of any links for any of my controlLinc buttons, but they all do something. I tried a factory reset and the buttons still cause various lights (that they used to be linked to) to go on and off. Do I need to restore the controlLinc, the lights that they are connected to? Do I need to factory reset all of the switches that they are connected to and then restore them?
Sub-Routine Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Yes, you should reset the switches. Rand
