ISY994ZS and smart meters

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Is anyone familiar with the ISY994ZS and how it communicates with smart meters? Is it a wireless connection? Has anyone used it with Oncor yet?

The sales material on the U-D web site says it works with Oncor meters. It would be nice to know if anyone has any feedback on any issues with Oncor before I swap out this for my 994i unit.

Thanks,

I believe that you only need to upgrade to the ZigBee RSC module.

Hello Leon,

The connection is via wireless ZigBee RF and as Stu noted. You simply need to purchase the hardware which includes the activation for the energy module.

You may follow this link to see the upgrade pricing and purchase option: https://www.universal-devices.com/sales/

ZS series requires the ZigBee Smart Meter dongle (not RCS). Once you have that, then you can connect to your Oncor meter and see real time energy information (and prices if they send it).

So I buy and add the High Powered Zigbee Smart Grid (SEP1.1) Radio to my 994i AND I have to have a "dongle"? Where do I get the dongle? My smart meter has a Zigbee wireless sticker on it, so I assumed I didn't need anything on the meter side other than access permission from Oncor.

Hello Leon,

The ZigBee upgrade to the ISY includes the chip and antenna which Michel refers to as the dongle.

Please ensure you consult your POCO so the right person can help you activate the system. UDI can also help facilitate should it be required to ensure the on boarding process is as smooth as possible.
