Sharing settings between profiles

yeah...  this would be awesome.. I have one that connects to mobilinc portal, one to isy portal, and one for direct access.   I have a lot of stuff setup (dashboard items, icons, geofences, etc. etc.).  for some reason the isy portal profile lost most devices etc. (maybe an update to their portal or something).  It will take a looong time to reset up all these items... being able to copy one of my other profiles and change connection method would be soo much better...

+1 +1 +1 to support this.. seems should be easy...

Hi Binaryman,

A workaround is if you have a second iOS device. If you do, you can wholesale copy the entire MobiLinc config over to another iOS device as a "backup" to restore if needed.

Help me understand your scenario a little bit better. A profile copy would duplicate the profile and all settings to a second profile. But, the ISY doesn't support multiple portals. How would this feature help as I think you are connecting to different ISYs with two different portals installed? The direct IP could be a duplicated ISY, but again, I'm not sure I understand the use case. The multiple profile support is there to connect to different ISYs and by default would have different devices, scenes, programs, variables, Elk, etc. I'm not seeing how a profile copy would buy you anything.

So no-one replied to this but I'll give you the reason he meant (I believe).

When you are in your house (especially if you have a slow network or congested network connection like I do when at the lake), it is far more efficient to run the mobilinc using local network settings to connect directly to the ISY.  Or maybe you are testing the different portal servers as they aren't exactly equal.  Anyway, you can't set this up.

I also would like a way to re-order the profiles since Alpha order doesn't work as a default.

I think the real solution is when you setup the lighting controller it would be nice if you could have different user-id and password for local and secure.

here is why.

The ISY does not allow email address for user_id.  ISY portal uses email and so does mobilinc portal.

Since if you have local setup it will try that first, it would be nice if you could put in a local user name and password and a secure user name and password.  If local is blank, it goes right to secure and if you aren't using the isy portal or having problems, it would go to the local without having to duplicate the profile.

It would be nice whey you select Mobilnc Connect host type that you still have a local setting.

If none of that is possible, then having the ability to setup the profile once and copy it so you can select a local profile or a mobilinc profile would be a great compromise.

Thanks bigDvette,

I'm not sure if slow network is what Tim had in mind, but in your case I do understand. The network/latency would need to be remarkably bad, almost unusable, for it to make more sense to use a local profile then MobiLinc Connect. The amount of data we move between the ISY and MobiLinc is quite small. Much smaller than any single website you'd try to visit.

To do what you are suggesting would require a fairly large overhaul of the connection logic in MobiLinc. Possible, but a lot of effort to support. As you indicated a profile copy would be a good compromise. I'll pass this along.
