flsenior Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I just switched from MobiLinc Connect to the Isy portal because of my purchase of an Amazon Echo and the Connected Home. I find that my communication between MobiLinc Pro and my ISY is now incredibly slow. When I used MobiLinc Connect the communication was significantly faster. Am I now doomed to this slow communication status or is there a solution available now or coming soon? I am using an iPhone 5. All of my ISY and phone software is up to date. My slow communication issues are most severe when using MobiLinc on my wifi network. In this situation the little communication wheel at the top of my phone spins and spins for a very long time. The response time to turn a device on/off is seconds. My communication time when I am Not using my home wifi is a little faster but still considerably slower than when I used MobiLinc Connect. I also find that the device indicator icon will not always update when a light is turned on/off even though the light did respond as desired.
InsteonNut Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Hi flsenior, I'll have an official announcement here soon, but wanted to let you know that Amazon certified our MobiLinc skill for the Echo yesterday. You can now stay with MobiLinc Connect and use your Echo with our service. Just open the Alexa app and link your MobiLinc Connect account to the MobiLinc skill. Remember to reinstall the MobiLinc Connect portal in your ISY and remove the ISY Portal. More on this later today! Wes
jspoon Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I would be very interested in how this compares with the ISY portal to echo interface.
Quietminded Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Been holding off on other solutions for months hoping this would happen...Thank you Wes
flsenior Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 I look forward to your announcement. One question that I hope is answered is the communication protocol when using the MobiLinc Connect Skill. With the Connected Home module my voice commands to the Echo are pretty straight forward, "Alexa, turn on the kitchen". For the MobiLinc Skill do I have a longer command such as Alexa, turn on "MobiLinc Connect" and turn kitchen on. I am trying to find the Utopian world of simple commands and fast, remote response from my iPhone.
Quietminded Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Installed and running as reliably and fast as connected home devices I have. Excellent
Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 flsenior,The reason for slowness in your Wifi network is because MobiLinc is going through the portal at all times. What you might want to try is, in your MobiLinc Settings:Http URL: the local IP address of your ISY at home. You can find it under Admin Console | Configuration | Network Settings Http Port:: the Http port for your ISY ... usually 80. You can find it under Admin Console | Configuration | Network Settings | Http Port With kind regards, Michel
flsenior Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 I made the Http changes you advised but was not able to connect to the ISY. I assume that I could not connect because the User ID and Password is wrong. Here is my situation. When I setup the ISY Portal, the sign in screen requested my email as the User ID. My ISY is setup with a different ID. The ISY Admin Console will not allow a user ID setup as long as my email address. Must I use a valid email address as the user ID on the ISY Portal?

As far as I know the setting for Mobilinc and ISY Portal do not allow local IP because of difference in passwords so unless you create another profile for local you're always connected https to ISY Portal. To configure Mobilinc use these setting... Host Type = ISY User Name = Portal Username (email address) Password = Portal Login Password Local http://= blank Local Port = 80 Secure https:// = my.isy.io Secure Port = 443 Connection Method = Secure Connection Jon...

Michel Kohanim Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Hi flsenior, I am so very sorry. That's correct and I had a lapse of senility. Unfortunately unless MobiLinc decides to support ISY Portal, we are stuck here where EVERYTHING has to go to the portal even if local. If you wish, you can send a request to sales@universal-devices.com and we'll remove and refund ISY Portal for you. With kind regards, Michel
