Pascal Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I am new to the ISY994i. I use to have a revolv but this is no longer working. After some hardware issues I have been able to link an Insteon ON/OFF switch. Not sure how I did it but it works. Now I am trying to link a leak sensor (Insteon 2852-2222). I followed the procedure here: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Linking_a_Leak_Sensor but I do not think my sensor is linked or communicating with the ISY. On the Java client page, the heart beat, we, and dry status box are just empty. Any ideas where to look next? Thanks
stusviews Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Battery powered devices do not always report their current state. You may be able see a dry state if you tap the set button.

Press the set button on the leak sensor to re-set off the wet node to off and the dry node to on You'll need to have a dual band device within fairly close proximity to the sensor in order to insure good RF communications between the sensor and the ISY Edited February 24, 2016 by Techman
Pascal Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 When I place the sensor on top of a wet towel, I can see the LED blinking for 1/4 sec or so. Nothing in the ISY. Both the PLM and the ISY are in my office now, less than 10'. I know the sensor use to work with the revolv upstairs and the sensor in the basement.

Do you mean that the sensor is 10 feet from the PLM? Is the PLM a dual band model? If so and it still doesn't work then try removing and reinstalling the sensor.
Pascal Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Ok I got the sensor working! I would not call the software really ready for prime time. Quite a few bugs in there (note that I am myself a software developper). I rebooted everything and I was able to link the sensor in seconds.

What firmware version do you have installed and which UI are you using (Help > About.) Jon...
Pascal Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 v4.3.26 and using the Java console on a Mac Yosemite. The Java support has problem as well with file IO (access right). Also the pop-up for reading / writing files is not working right. Will investigate that tomorrow, but first will try it on a Windows 10 box.
stusviews Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There's a difference in the firmware and UI. Both should must match. Help > About
Pascal Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 The UI works a lot better on Windows 10. At least I can save a backup of my device. On the Mac the Finder does not work right and you end up in an infinite loop eventually crashing the virtual machine.

This thread suggests Java 8 Update 40 works... Edit: should have read update 45 Jon... Edited February 25, 2016 by jerlands
Pascal Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 I have Java 8, update 73. This is what you get by default if you do a Java update. I do not think the problem is with the Java VM, but it is bugs and permissions issues with the software. The software works when interacting with the device but the file-io operations do not (backup, restore, update, etc).
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Hi Pascal, Welcome to the forum. I assure you that there are no bugs. If you cannot backup/restore anything on a MAC, there are only 3 possibilities: 1. When initially installed, perhaps permissions were not accepted (Permissions to run Admin Console published by Universal Devices) 2. You should use http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin.jnlp(do not use the browser/Applet plugin) 3. A firewall software that blocks communications with ISY What I suggest: 1. Clear your Java cache 2. Restore Security Prompts (Java Console | Security | Restore Security Prompts) 3. Go to http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin.jnlp- make sure you accept the certificate In all cases, you are welcome to contact our support and we'd be delighted to get to the bottom of it. With kind regards, Michel
Pascal Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Method #3 works fine (jnlp). The applet plugin does not work. Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Hi Pascal, My pleasure. Please do not hesitate to contact our tech support in case we can be of further assistance. With kind regards, Michel
Pascal Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 The initial setup was a bit rough. This is made worse by Chrome dropping Java support. Past those hurdles, this is a powerful little box, programming is easy and I am stating to do more advanced things.
Guitartexan01 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 After their initial difficulties, nearly everyone says the same thing Pascal. It is indeed a powerful little box. You have now also met that powerful little boxes creator, Michel Kohanim. Yes, he personally answers messages and emails. We have yet to see him fail to take interest and help anyone on this forum. He is a singularly dedicated individual. There are lots of others on this forum that will help anyone as well, lurker and poster alike. Welcome. GT
Michel Kohanim Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi Pascal, thanks so very much for the feedback. Hi GT, THANK YOU! With kind regards, Michel
