Best way to control Home Theater

Recommended Posts

I would like to control my Home Theater using Echo and ISY. I currently use Roomie that can access my devices either directly (by IP) or through GC-100 devices.

I know that one way is to use ISY network resources and I have implemented few comments but I was never able to set all the comments I need. I can potentially map to ISY network resources all the IR sequences used by my GC-100 but it is way too much manual work for me.

I read that ppl use Logitech Home Control. I know it would mean for me to reprogram all my scenes but I may want to try this approach. Is there any thread on how to use it with Amazon Echo and ISY portal?

Any other suggestions? The simplest solution for me would be to start Roomie scenes from Echo/ISY but it seems to be not possible.

Thanks. Maxim

Use roomie triggers. You will need to purchase there hub or run the sync software on a Mac mini but this is a very easy solution that works well.

It would be fantastic! I am searching for roomie ISY triggers but not very successfully. Can you please point me to any discussion of site when I can learn more? Thanks a lot!!

I found more info about using roomie sync software. My major problem is that I am now using subscription free old purchase of roomie (simple control) with unlimited number of devices. It seems that to integrate Echo, I will need to buy $50/y subscription for 100 devices... I hate subscriptions and I had to buy ISY portal subscription already....

If you don't want to you the simple control skill you can just use isy connected home to trigger the simple control scenes.

Can you please explain just a tiny bit more? My understanding is that I need simple control sync soft to trigger my existing simple control scenes and then I need to subscribe to  simple control service to incorporate Echo as described here:

Thanks!

Do I still need SimpleControl Service to do this?

Yes please explain I can't find anything that references the connected home WRT Simple Control. I assume you are using network resources or the rest interface?

In Simple control you can set a trigger to watch a insteon device. I use a lamplinc. Lets say I want to turn on a lighting scene in ISY, set the hue lights to a specific color, turn on the tv, set the reciver input.

You can easily make a activity in simple controle to do all this. Set a trigger in simple control to watch the lamplinc and run the activity when the lamplinc is set to 40% for example. All you need to do in ISY is make a program that turns the lamplinc to 40% and a few seconds later turns it off. You can use echo and the ISY connected home feature to control all your simple control activities and there is no need for the simple control skill.

I believe that subscription to simple control service is required before you can use any triggers.
