Dual Z-wave Handset & Deadbolt (Both)?

Has anyone used a Z-wave handset & Z-wave deadbolt before?  Every brand seems like they only use either a deadbolt and handset.  I just ordered the Z-wave add-on for my ISY994iPro so now I'm curious what the forum has to say...  Obviously they would have to fit due to battery storage locations in each model.

Lately we just typically use the handset with key during day use and the deadbolt locked at night.

Thoughts?  I should be able to do a scene or something inside ISY.

I'm kinda thinking Kevo Gen 2 and a kwikset 912 (or if they have a next gen) handset lever.

There are no "scenes" for Z-Wave as in the Insteon sense. You'd have to control both handset & deadbolt individually.

I'm using both a Schlage FE599 (lever handset) and BE469 (deadbolt) on one of our doors. All our Schlage Z-Wave locks are controlled by programs.

Thanks for the update.  I like Schlage, but two touchscreens seems a little much.  So say at 3am, brother-in-law wants in and knows his code... would he have to enter a code into each, or enter a code - pause - and wait for the other one to unlock too?

Thanks

Well, you should know that the FE599 cannot be permanently unlocked by a Z-Wave command. If you send an unlock, it will unlock for about 3 seconds then re-lock automatically. This is the same behavior as if you entered a code on the keypad, it unlocks then locks 3 seconds later. The only way to permanently unlock it is to press the unlock button on the lock.

Also, entering the code on the FE599 does not send an unlock status to the Z-Wave controller, only pressing the unlock button does that.

So I doubt that you could enter the code on the BE469, detect it's unlocked, send an unlock to the FE599 and open the door within 3 seconds. Especially considering if your brother-in-law is coming home at 3am he may not be fully aware or cognizant. :)

I did have a program that unlocked the handset when the deadbolt was unlocked from the outside, but our housemaid was never quick enough because, as andyf0 pointed out, the handset re-locks in a few seconds. So, yes, you have to enter the code for each.

BTW, the auto-relock is for security. Simply close the door after entering and the door is locked. No need to press or push anything B)

Edit: I can lock and unlock both remotely, but the handset still re-locks. The only way to keep the handset unlocked is to unlock it manually from the inside, so I have a program that unlocks both with one tap on the handset.

LR Outside Unlock
If
Control 'LR / Devices / LR ZW Deadbolt' is switched Unlocked by Keypad

Then
Set 'LR / Devices / LR ZW Door Lock' Unlock

Else
   - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

The LED on the door lock will blink for several seconds. The door must be opened before the LED stops blinking.
