I have a togglelinc controlling back deck floods and side yard floods controlled by a switchlinc. What I would like is to have the option of controlling the side yard floods with the togglelinc. Thinking something like toggle up once for back deck floods, toggle up twice to turn on side yard floods also. Is it possible to make a program to do that?

Is the load dimmable. If not then a dimmer is not appropriate. Even at 100%, the TRIACs in a dimmer clip the waveform which may reduce the life of the load, the dimmer or both.

Will a non dimmable halogen bulb still dim? Otherwise they must be dimmable as they seem to work fine.

Yes, halogen and incandescent bulbs work with the Insteon dimmer modules.  Non dimmable CFL and LED bulbs should not be used with dimmers.

Togglelincs DO have a fast on command, including relay versions.

Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs with iodine or bromine added.

IIRC there was a discussion about non-dimming SwitchLinc devices and they still produce Fast On commands, They just can't dim and may not respond to them......

Unless the halogen is one of these 12v bulbs (MR-16) that goes into a can with a ballast that can't be dimmed.

These halogen bulbs aren't low voltage, it's interesting you say the non dimming togglelinc has a Fast On, the option is there on the bottom of the ISY screen but it didn't work with the program either through ISY or manually double tapping the toggle but when I put a dimming switchlinc in it's place it worked fine.

I have found that the togglelincs are not the easiest on which to initiate the fast on.  The two presses must be done pretty quickly.  Perhaps that was the problem?

 

For what it is worth, one could also create a programmatic solution to this problem that would allow greater time between the first press and second.

You have to write a program to receive the Fast On command from the SwitchLinc.

 

There would be no point in sending it a Fast On because it only has one speed and no dimming facilities.

No. In addition to Dim and Bright, there's Fade Up and Fade Down (hold button or paddle) and Fade Stop (release after holding). The difficult part is holding long enough to be different than a tap without initiating On or Off. That task is actually easier with a ToggleLinc
