Teken Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Information Only: All of the First Alert hardware incorporate a countdown timer. Depending upon production date of the smoke / co it will have a 5-6 year service life. Meaning if the product was activated and was in use for 3 years. It will have 2-3 years left before it calls out a malfunction alert. You will than have to purchase new units to replace the old ones . . . Hardwired One Link smoke sensors have a 10 year service life before tripping the malfunction timer. The Insteon Smoke Bridge on the other hand is a good buy and no worries about an internal clock expiring.
