amp3d Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Hey guys, I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I'm new to the isy and have only done homeseer /Vera installations. At a customer location I just installed an Isy ans trying to make the conversion process go smoothly. Unfortunately that isn't the case! I have a 4 button scene leviton controller and have created a scene for a zwave switch. I can't for the life of me figure out how to associate that scene I crested with any buttons on the scene controller. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated! Michel Kohanim Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Hi amp3d, You can do Link Management | New Scene and drag/drop your devices into it. This said, ISY does not yet natively support Z-Wave scenes. But, we are currently working on it. With kind regards, Michel
Scottmichaelj Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 You could create a "sudo" scene by a program. Just add each device and levels into it and the call the program/scene from the button.
amp3d Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Oh oh! This looks like it could be a deal breaker at this site. I guess that's my fault for not looking into this further before picking up the isy. The scene controller has 4 dimmer buttons. I can't seem to find a way to associate scenes to those buttons? In this case, the cost of the scene Controllers outweigh the cost of the isy so I might have to take another hit on this one and look at alternative controllers. I was really hoping the isy would be the one to replace those awful Vera installs! I've had good luck with the homeseer products, but they have limited support for Rti integration which isy has support for through some additional drivers/plugins. Is there any other solution to multi button scene Controllers? I didn't wanna have to toss out the isy the 2nd day having it! Sent from my mobile device.
MWareman Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 The pre-5.x ISY firmware does not support multi-channel zwave devices, and the Levitron scene controller is almost certainly multi-channel. The post-5.0 firmware is still very much alpha - though some people are having good success. If it's a new install, you may want to try 5.0.3.
jerlands Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Wait for 5.0.4... it's supposed to come out shortly. Jon...

So MWareman are you saying that multichannel is firmware not hardware? I was under the impression that multichannel was a hardware upgrade. So putting firmware 5.0.3 would give him multichannel support?

It's a function of the firmware. 5.0.3 has some serious issues for those upgrading from 4.x - but is not too bad on a device without other configuration on it. However, as noted above, 5.0.4 is reported to be imminent, and solving the upgrade issues. It will still be an alpha though - so you'll have to do a risk/benefit analysis.

AMPED3D joins us from a AV Integration dealer site as I referred him to look into using the ISY in his installs. All this time I thought multichannel was a new module not firmware. Better go buy the ZWave module while its still on sale!
amp3d Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Wow thank you all for your help and support. Especially to Scottmichaelj since he took time out of his evening to go through a remote session on the isy. I definately want to get this deployed in my installs. I'm not on site to test, but does anyone have any screenshots or anything of what a scene controller will look like in the Gui running 5.0.3? Does a 4 button scene controller show up as 4 devices or just one? Very curious! I'll try the new alpha firmware tomorrow. I'm doing a complete new setup and have no problem restoring to factory defaults first. I assume the upgrade process to alpha is the same process I did yesterday to get it to 4.4.6 (off the top of my head I think that's what it was) Sent from my mobile device.
MWareman Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I don't have any zwave scene controllers (yet!) mainly because I have not found any that I like the look of compared to the KPL's.

Down the road on his own projects Im sure he will go with Insteon but he has to work with the General Contractor and what the electrician installed on this project. Hopefully the beta firmware will allow the ZWave scene controllers to do what he needs right now. I gave him the wrong info on multichannel as I thought it was hardware based so I feel bad he has to make another trip out to the site.
