ISY, Ramp Rates and Credit card remote

I just set up some scenes with my IR Linc 2411R,my credit card remote and a ISY99 . 6 of the 8 scene buttons (A-H) controls 6 individual Switchlinc dimmers in one room of my house. All the scene buttons operate the lights perfectly. A quick touch, the lights come on or off. Hold the button, lights will brighten or dim. The problem is that when I use the "all on" button. Only 4 of the dimmers come on at a .5 second ramp rate, one ramps up at a rate of about 15 seconds and the other does not come on at all. When I press the all off button, the same thing happens with the lights going out. 4 go out at .5 ramp and the other one goes off at about 15 seconds. I then put the only light that does not come on at all on with the rest and pressed all off, 4 go out at .5 ramp and the other one goes off at about 15 seconds, and the one had to put on goes off at about 15 seconds. I have checked evey scene that contains these slow ramping dimmers and there are no indication that I have a ramp rate set for this long. Is there anyway to adust the ramp rates in the the ALL ON / ALL OFF scene in the credit card remote? I think I also need to add another dimmer, the one that does not come, as well.

Michael, hello!

 

Now, you have reached the point of no return since I have to explain to you how All On/Off works in INSTEON protocol:

When receiving All On/Off, the devices turn on to the on level and at the ramp rate of the FIRST ever group they were linked to. So, what you have to do is to figure out what scene you created first for those 2 that do not come on and change the on level/ramp rate in that scene.

OK, So if I am understanding you correctly. I need to go through every scene that contains these devices and find the ramp rate that that matches the behavior of the devices and adjust that? What if I want to keep that ramp the way it is in that "First" scene? I thought I did go back through every scene. I will look again.

What bearing does the ramp rate and on level have for the contoller in a multi device scene? Say if I had 4 devices in a scene with a KPL button as a controller. I would set all ramp rates on the 4 devices at .5 seconds, the on rate to 100% on one, 50% on two of the devices and 25% on the last one.

What should I set the contollers on level and ramp rate to? Agin what bearing does this have?

In a situation like that (4 responders and 1 controller), you would click ont he scene itself and set on levels and ramp rates for all devices (including the controller) for when the scene is controlled via the ISY itself (say through the Admin Console, or through a program you've written).

 

You'd click on the controller and set the on levels and ramp rates for all devices for when the scene is controlled through that switch (someone walks up and presses that switch).

 

You can have multiple controllers in a scene all with different on levels and ramp rates for all responders, PLUS the scene itself (which is used when the ISY is the controller).

OK, so to summarize, set sliders in the scene " folder" when scene is contolled by ISY or a program will trigger scene and set sliders for devices on the contoller down in the file tree when local switch will control scene, correct?

 

But I am still unclear how ONE Controller slider will have a bearing on the 4 devices in the scene. If I set the ramp rates on the 4 devices at .5 seconds, the on rate to 100% on one, 50% on two of the devices and 25% on the last one, what bearing does the controller slider set to say, 50% on that scene? As I write this, I think this only happens when the " A" button of a KPL is placed in a scene. Thing is, this particular "A" button does not control a load. So, is the slider setting for that contoller moot? I guess if the "A" button did control a load, the it make sense that you would want to set the level of the load it was controlling. Am I making sense?

Yes, sorry I misunderstood your question.

 

When clicking the controller within the scene, you will not see sliders for the controller because pressing the button on the controller will use the device's local on level and ramp rates.

 

When clicking on the scene itself, the slider on the controller would indicate the on level and ramp rate used on that device when the scene is activated from the ISY (through programs or the admin console).

 

Remember that a controller is inherently a responder as well. Like you said, since the device has no load and a KPL doesn't even have a ramping LED bar it doesn't matter to you what the on level and ramp rate are set to. However, if you use a SwitchLinc as a controller or attach a load to that KPL you might care.

Actually, when you click on a controller within the scene, you will see the sliders for that controller (it will say "Applied Locally" in brackets to the right off the controller name).

 

For a KPL button A, it will show up. As you noticed, it will NOT show up for secondary KPL buttons (B through H).

 

For your KPL (since it has no load) it only matters that it be something other than an onlevel of 0. If it has an onlevel of 0, it will not turn it's LED on when the scene is activated.

 

As Mike said though...you would care if this were a SWL because you would want the LED bar to match the on level of the scene. I have made this mistake is the only reason I am jumping in here. It took me a while to figure out why the KPL led and the SWL leds where not working correctly. I figured since there no load there, I might as well set the onlevel to 0...that was a mistake.

 

I would get used to setting it as it should be even if it doesn't have load...just my 2 cents.

You're right! Thanks for the correction. A KPL primary button would show a slider for its own on level and ramp rate, but a KPL secondary button would not (because it has none).
