Would ISY Portal work with double NAT from ISP

Recommended Posts

Living in a rural area, the only viable option to go to Internet is a wireless service.

Recently, i switched from a WiMax connection to a LTE connection. While the LTE connection is much faster (25mps instead of 10), ISP (Xplornet, Canada) doesn't allow to either port forward, or having a static IP address.

After lots of research, i found the reason why : ISP uses a double NAT on their side.

And since then, i cannot have access to my ISY outside my LAN (surveillance cameras don't work either).

So i'm considering some work around solutions, like a VPN with port tunnelling, i seems a bit difficult.

Or i'm also considering ISY Portal.

But, does anyone have experience with ISY Portal connecting to ISY994PRO when ISP uses double NAT on their side?

Thanks is advance,

I would think the portal would work since initially its initiated from the ISY out. That means if you have other devices and appliances working like Roku, streaming music etc... the ISY and Portal operate similarly to that and should work here too.

I have no ports open on my firewall and the portal works fine.

If you sent a note to UDI support, I believe they would give you the opportunity to test it and not charge you if it didn't work.

Francois,

My brother has a PC running 24/7 at his home with chrome open and the chrome remote desktop extension. This way he can view his cameras without a static IP (or dyndns), by doing a remote desktop connection. The extension does not require port forwarding or a static IP. May be worth a try to if you can leave a PC (or windows tablet) running. There are chrome remote desktop apps for phones also.

I believe Paul is correct as far as the portal goes.

Thank you Paul.

I just bought ISY Portal and it seems to work flawlessly. It took just a few minutes to set up. And i also made Mobilinc Pro work again.

Thank you Javi.

I will try that today on my Mac. I might also try teamviewer.

I always have a lot of help from this forum!
