Feature Request - Thermostat Showing Cooling/Heating

I have two Insteon thermostats (2441TH).  The app doesn't show if they are calling for cool or heat.  It would be nice to know if the HVAC is actually running.  Could this feature be added?

Does the ISY report that information?

Are you actually asking the question or do you already know the answer?

No, the ISY does not report that information that I know of.  It shows up in the admin console.  It shows up on Mobilinc (for Android) and is quite useful.

I'm on the fence about purchasing your app but there are a few things that are making me wonder if it's worth it.  For $20 I got everything for Mobilinc but with your app I have to spend more to get sprinkler control, thermostat control, variables and programs, etc.  Also, your app I don't think shows the weather module like Mobilinc does.  Also, not having folders for devices is a pain.  The search works well but it just that much more typing that I have to do rather than scrolling (which I find much easier).  And now it sounds like you don't plan on providing status of calling for heat or cool on the thermostats because the ISY doesn't report it.

Hmm...

Hmm...

1) I was actually asking the question.  I don't get that information with my setup so in order for me to know it even exists, I need someone to tell me about it and report the node information so that I can code around  it.

2) for $20 you get all of what mobilinc has to offer for android and has had to offer for the past 5 years.  lack of update and 0 features.  except a thermostat module.

3) weather integration.  Well I guess it displays the weather data in a list.  I guess you could say that the data is at least there.  Worth talking about.  not really.

4) Mobilinc does support the ezflora module.  Yes.  Does it have irrigation support. no.  It just displays the nodes that are attached to it.  About as integrated as the weather module.

5) Folders as the ISY has them will never exist in this app as it currently stands.  So if that is a deal breaker, then I do apologize.  My app simply does not format objects individually when they can be merged so folders objects in separate folders would negate the purpose of what the ISY is displaying or allowing you to do.

6) I can definitely add more filters, but I have in the last year built an app that compares and has a few better features then mobiliinc and will be adding many more features this fall.  All of this takes time and I simply did not want to waist my time on that when I was getting the whole of this project on its feet.

7) I can add whatever feature you want to the app as long as it flows with the object of why I made this app.  "to make a simple app user experience"  not all features of the ISY fit into this model.

8) Not purchasing my app because mobilinc is cheaper does not effect me in the slightest.  Mobilinc is an iOS app with red-headed android step child cousin.

If you want more information about my app.  One that will actually get updated.  Go Here: http://www.agaveha.com/versions/  If it is still too much for you, mobilinc will still be there to get the job done.

I don't have either cooling or heating operating right now, but I believe the ISY displays when my Honeywell Zwave thermostat is cooling or heating in the admin console.

I just made sure. I am not getting any of that information from my thermostat. Could someone post a node dump of that data.

I actually have a few questions on this topic too. I notice that when I look at my thermostats (which I have 2 Venstars with Insteon adapters and 1 Insteon wireless thermostat for monitoring pool temps), I notice they are not displaying the correct temperatures. So I press the top right corner to update their status and sometimes it shows a different temp. But then I select it to cool and after updating, it will change to show a different temp.

On my way home today, this is what happened. I went into the app and looked at my upstairs thermostat and it showed 87 degrees. So I selected my thermostat to cool and pressed to update and the temp showed 89 degrees. But it also went back to show off in the selection mode. I pressed cool again and updated it again, but then the temp inside showed it was 91 degrees. The selection did show cool at that point, but it would be nice that it showed if it was cooling. I then pressed the up arrow twice to change my set temp from 75 to 77, but it took about a minute to show the change. Kind of frustrating it takes so many steps to set my temperature.

I have noticed this for a while but thought it was going to be fixed with some of the few recent updates. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Robert

That does sound frustrating Robert. A lot of that sounds like it may just be communication with the ISY.  You are right with the pressing the top right to update, but unfortunately pressing it right after making and input wont really help.  It is possible that the app had a connection, but may have been in the process of a tower switch.  MObile networks can be touchy when switching for any socket based connection.  I have added the HVAC state to the app ans I will try to get that out as soon as I can.  I have also fixed a few status update issues in the app as well.  I don't know if this will fix your issue that you had, but I hope it will help.

Ok thanks for the heads-up. Although it has also happened within my wifi network too. Not to compare but it doesn't happen with Mobilinc that way. I do notice how Mobilinc's responds, but your app responds quicker for just about everything else.

Thank you again for quick response.
