wonder if you fellows have figured out if I choose wisely to skip the father's day sale of 10% but the 5 packs were discounted, but they charged sales tax on it, vs the July 4th 25% off sale...

Neither is a deal because the powers that be have increased the price of the units / multi packs. As a reference the 4 pack KPL's were $199.XX and with the 20% discount it came out to be: $160.20 USD

That is $40.05 per unit device which is the lowest it has ever been save one random sales event where the KPL's were going for $35.XX.

My suggestion is to first look at Costco.com for anything you need there first. Anything that Costco doesn't carry you can use Smarthome for the rest.

Costco is $15 cheaper than Smarthome even with the 4th of July sale on a 4 pack of dimmers.  Plus Costco includes shipping and SH needs a $200 purchase before they give it to you.  Costco will get you with sales tax, SH I think depends on your location.

If you're looking for mainline insteon items, Menards is about 5% cheaper, not counting their global 11% off sales. The addition of shipping to Sh orders has pretty much sealed the fate of this method for me. I pick up what i need when I'm buying other hardware store items.

The exceptions are the recent email deals like the PLM shipped for ~$34.

Costco does not show the keypads which is mainly what I am after in the next buy, maybe a couple more of the new style dual band appliance lincs, but the dropping of the pass through outlet causes me some issues as well.

May check Menards, they won't charge sales tax :)

Doh... I meant to say since SH is now charging shipping and tax, the additiona of tax make them less lucrative. I bought a keypad earlier last year from my Livonia Mendards in Detroit. At that time it was a few dollars more than Amazon, but I got it, went home and installed it

The 25% off at $500 was enticing enough to add the keypads a fanlinc I will need someday, a back up pair of switches and another appliance linc.

Spent way more than I was going to at the father's day sale, but 25% is pretty decent and it was a better deal than the discounted packs + the fathers day 10%.
