Waketech Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 All, I changed from Shaw to Telus and as figured the admin console, notifications, etc do not work. How do I go about getting the admin console running again so I can get things back to normal ?. TIA
larryllix Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) In your java console delete all cached items. Then go to the version announcement in this forum and click on the link matching your situation. This should also create a new Admin Console link on your computer. Changing ISPs should not affect your internal LAN stuff. Changing your router you will have to rebuild your router IP address reservation table to lock the ISY IP address down. Perfect, the router was changed as well
paulbates Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Because my LAN has become more complicated over time and has more management requirements, I run my own router for wifi and local services like DHCP, DNS. I install it behind the ISPs modem or router. I shut off wifi and services in the ISPs router, or have them do it, if it exists. That way the ISP's modem / router can be changed with little, if any, local changes. There have been times when I switch ISPs, or times when the ISP forces a technology change of their equipment. Historically the ISPs equipment has had limited features or they don't work well, I like shopping for my own router from a firewall and LAN/WLAN features perspective. This is a good time to consider this approach. Paul Edited August 11, 2016 by paulbates

I have always owned my own equipment and have heard nothing but heartache from those using the ISP's rental or forced upon equipment. My neighbour believes in the ISP Roger's empire whole hearted and hasn't been able to get WiFi to the other side of his small house for years. They have him convinced its due to the bad cable in the ground and any year now they will replace it under the road.. LOL Let's see...it's only been 8 years now.
Waketech Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Perfect, the router was changed as well So if the router changed, what steps do I need to take to get the ISY IP's changed
Waketech Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 So if the router changed, what steps do I need to take to get the ISY IP's changed Ok so I unplugged the ISY, plugged it back in and I now have the IP via FING
Waketech Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Ok so I unplugged the ISY, plugged it back in and I now have the IP via FING Ok it is now working normally
larryllix Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Ok it is now working normally Nice! Edit your ISY setup and set DHCP to enabled. Edit your router IP reseravtion table, find your ISY MAC address, and reserve an IP address for it. Reboot your ISY and then use admin console to verify the IP address was taken from your rouer DHCP server. Edited August 11, 2016 by larryllix
