stusviews Posted August 20, 2016 Share Posted August 20, 2016 The cameras did not bear the Insteon name when they were first introduced, Instead they were dubbed Smarthome cameras. I can view the Insteon cameras from my smartphone, tablet, Windows computers, Swann DVR, TVs, any monitor with a video input, either RCA or BNC and the ISY, all without the Hub. pinaar Posted August 23, 2016 Share Posted August 23, 2016 I use a Firefox plugin on my Windows 10 computer to view recorded clips or download them via ftp with the same plugin. VideoLAN VLC will display live as will the Foscam app on my tablet or Android phones. I bought the Insteon Camera 2864-22x cameras because they were cheap PT and recorded on movement. I did set them with the Insteon Hub, but I unplugged it to avoid conflicts with ISY and I am still using them. I don't know how I'll re-set them up again if I do a factory reset later, but I'm sure there's a way without the Insteon Hub (which I still have, just in case anything funny happens). I used VLC on my Ubuntu Linux system to watch live video, but I don't know how to access the video clips in the MicroSD card - which is not a problem since I have Windows 10 on two computers to download the files. Since the DDNS is http://connect.insteon.com, I assume I can actually view my cameras from the internet which I've done when I had the Insteon Hub connected. I haven't tried it recently - since it's a direct login and I used to go through the Insteon app on my Android before. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Johnathan Posted December 12, 2016 Share Posted December 12, 2016 I do not have an Insteon Hub and have been able to set up Insteon 2864-232 Outdoor HD cameras though my PC Chrome web browser using http://198.168.1.XX:34100 (XX being the DIP address assigned by the router). Then have been able to view using Mobilinc from my iPhone while connected to my local network. Still trying to get the Mobilinc to find the cameras when I am remote.
