eyost
Hi all, I am having difficulties configuring my ISY to send text for notifications. I am able to send a text via my email client (Mail on Mac OS X) using my Gmail account but when I use the same settings in ISY I receive a "Password not Accepted" message. I verified that the password entered in ISY is correct. If I uncheck the 'Use TLS' I then receive "Unsupported authentication method". Here are my settings: SMPT Server: smtp.gmail.com UserId: my email address@gmail.com From: Ed Yost: myemailaddress@gmail.com SMTP Port: 587 Password: verified Timeout 1,000 Any thoughts? Thanks, Ed Link to comment
stusviews
Just to make sure, you're using your email password, not the ISY. Correct? Link to comment

MWareman
Do you have 2FA enabled on your Gmail account? You need to make sure to modify your Gmail account to allow unsecure clients, and make sure you are using an application password (if 2FA is enabled) Link to comment

I changed that and get password not accepted with the Use TLS option checked. If unchecked, I get the 'Unsupported authentication method' Link to comment

MWareman
If 2FA is NOT enabled, allow 'less secure apps' on this page: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps If you have 2FA enabled, create an 'app specific password' to use instead ontyour usual Google password and 2FA PIN via this page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords Michael. I found it. I went ahead and turned on 2FA for additional security and generated an app specific password. Thanks for all of the help. Link to comment
MWareman
2FA is an acronym for 2 Factor Authentication. I always recommend everyone uses it - it provides very strong protection for your account. I'm glad you got things going! Link to comment
