rafarataneneces Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 It would be SO COOL to have Agave for Nvidia Shield TV, that way users of Android TV could control their house from their TV! Please, would this be possible?

Please, would this be possible? What? Why? Plus why not just sideload the APK right now? I have a shield and love it but I dont think an app is time spent. As it is now there are so many other things to add to the app that are more important.

I think it's a definitive must.

I am not disputing that. I am simply saying would you really want to stop watching Netflix on it to turn off a light? Grab a cheap Amazon tablet and put Agave on it
MWareman Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 The Nvidia Shield TV is the most popular Android on all of the living rooms all over USA. I think it's a definitive must. I have 6 AndroidTV devices. None are the Nvidia Shield. I know about 10 others with AndroidTV devices. None have this device either. It's not very popular by my survey.

G W Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Well, if we are asking, how about the ever popular Amazon Fire. I have 6 of them. Short and to the point. Best regards, Gary Funk

Best regards, Gary Funk So in all seriousness most people I know get the Amazon Echo and for the Apple crowd ATV. I'm not sure NVidia is the top Android TV in households. Its geared more towards gamers since its a very powerful box and you can stream games from a local PC to it. I have one and its a great device, zero complaints. Gaming on other boxes and some 1080p content does studded. However most people buy Amazon Fire TV as they don't game, and streaming services work fine.
G W Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'd like to point out that it's not how popular a device is. It's how many UDI customers buy a device. Short and to the point. Best regards, Gary Funk
bleepblorp Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Count me in as a Shield TV owner and fan. It is by far and away the most powerful Android TV box out presently.
G W Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Count me in as a Shield TV owner and fan. It is by far and away the most powerful Android TV box out presently. How much power does it need? It streams video and runs apps. My phone does that. Short and to the point. Best regards, Gary Funk
TheFallenAngel Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 How much power does it need? It streams video and runs apps. My phone does that. Short and to the point. Best regards, Gary Funk Not when it comes to 4k. I have 3 Android TVs and one is Nvidia Shield. NETFLIX streams its 4K shows only on the Shield.. The others suffer at times to play local 4K.. NETFLIX only streams in 4K to "approved" devices, which are not that many.. Also at the end of the day Nvidia Shield is a powerful Android Gaming console - hence the extra power it needs/has. Lastly but important - It can actively decode H.265 and a lot other devices have to do it with softerware which not always works due to CPU power.. Cheers, Alex
TheFallenAngel Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Oh and with all that I said above, I also don't think Agave needs to specially support Shield.. Different purposes really.. Cheers, Alex

It sounds like a nice device even though I don't play games. Short and to the point. Best regards, Gary Funk

Best regards, Gary Funk So IF you have a video collection say on a NAS you can transcode and stream it to another device. My last trip I was able to hookup my iPhone to the TV and watch my stuff. plex.tv (and no you dont need to subscribe to the Plexpass)
