"Request Failed" when I try to remove a controller

I was trying to get the button on a 6 button dimmer to respond to an IRLink initiated scene (apparently this is not possible). In the process I ended up with two IRLink buttons in my scene as controllers. When I try to remove the one I do not need, I get a dialog box "Error Request Failed"

How to I clean this up?

Hi David,

Apologies for the inconvenience. This is indeed possible (IRLinc button and KPL button in the same scene both as controllers). Please go to Tools->Diagnostics->Event Viewer, choose level 2, and the retry. In the event viewer, you will see WHY the request failed (i.e. which device is the culprit). Please keep me posted.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

I basically removed everything from my configuration and started over, so I have gotten past the request failed problem. Now I almost have the system working with one problem:

First - I have a very simple system:

2 switchlink relays - one controlling the load - set as a 3 way switch

2 switchlink dimmers - one controlling the load - set as a three way dimmer

An IRLink to control remotely the two lights.

I am using the ISY-99i ("Computer") solely to set up the system, I do not plan to use it connected as a controller once the links are set up.

I have the relay's properly set up. The leds on each switch track properly,

but I am having a problem with the dimmers.

They connected together in a scene both as controllers to link them.

There is another scene with all four devices as responders and an IRLink button as controller to set a movie watching scene. In that one scene, the scene itself and the IRLink button set the dimmers 12% with 6.5 sec ramp. In every other instance of the dimmers, they are set to 97% and .5 sec.

The problem is using the dimmers manually. Pressing the non-load dimmer to "on" causes it's LEDs to ramp quickly to full brightness but the load connected dimmer ramps slowly to 100%.

Pressing the load connected dimmer "on" ramps it to 15% slowly, but ramps the leds on the other dimmer quickly to 100%. So the two dimmers do not seem to track brightness and speed - but they do if I control them from the computer.

I have gone through each device in the tree and set the dimmers to 100% and .5 sec (except for the movie watching scene and the IRLink button). I have also had the computer rebuild all the device links using "Restore Devices"

What else can I try to get the two dimmers in sync? I looked through the Wiki and forum but could not see anything I was doing wrong.

Hi David,

You have to airgap the switches for the local on level/ramp rate changes to take effect. To airgap, take out the set button, wait about 10 seconds, and then slide them back in (do NOT push/hold them back in).

Michel

Thanks. I have all my switches breadboarded on a piece of pine with a line cord so I can learn and test Insteaon before my new home theater construction is done. After I posted before, I unplugged the bread board (the really big air gap). I just plugged it in and of course it all worked perfectly. I was logging in to tell you not to bother answering but you beat me to it.

Everything seems to be working. I will add some more IR controls then move on to programming my Pronto remote to control the installation. I appreciate the fast responses to my postings.
