Scottmichaelj Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 So my friend just sent me this. Not sure what's worse the red cup or the TV hung on a tree with wires running on the ground? SMH - I think I need new friends! To think this guy works at Microsoft coding Office 365
paulbates Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Suggesting a "that'll do" environment? In related news, I wonder how far back the code base goes for office? A lot of what you see in 0365 looks like Office 2000 or even before.

A lot of what you see in 0365 looks like Office 2000 or even before. No one knows. Seriously no one including MS. Well maybe the people on the inception team but they are all moved on to other places. The team changes so much that you have guys coming and going so they pickup where the last guy left. Its so fragmented I would be surprised if they knew who worked on what code and kept track. Maybe its all in the collaboration software/tracking? They say started from the ground up but thats open for interpretation. Sure the website was started new but the actual office code itself? The design maybe "by taking key elements of office software" Even subscription renewal is convoluted. I just bitched to him about this. Im logged into my account profile page and theres a renew your code button but it wont accept the O365 code. You have to go to another place and login to yet the same MS account on the O365 page and renew it there! WTF!? Problem is these guys are just a minion of a team and no one has influence to do anything about anything. Sad. Asked him if he knew anyone on OneDrive and thats separate team then O365! I like OneDrive but its a mess too and iOS app sucks. But $99 a year for household subscription to O365 and includes 5 users plus each get 1TB storage you cant beat that with any other cloud storage company! Setup 5 accounts and you have 5TB storage.
paulbates Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Its true for MS services too. I got a good taste of this 2 years ago on an engagement to merge 4 primary care providers into an ACO,~400 people. A sub-project was to migrate everyone to o365 from a new, pristine AD Domain. It turned into "joint meandering" fest.
stusviews Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 As long as the sun stays behind the tree, your friend should be OK. Problem is, the cup is empty. Is there a cooler nearby?
Scottmichaelj Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 As long as the sun stays behind the tree, your friend should be OK. Problem is, the cup is empty. Is there a cooler nearby? Cooler full of beer which he will need since "his team" is Carolina Panthers and they lost. Oh and BTW he was scared to go to the game "because the riots"! Lol Pussy! I told him he isn't a true fan. I jest all in good fun. He is a good guy.
