geoffschultz Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I've been running an X10 (2 legacy controllers) -> Insteon system for many years. About 2 years ago I switched over to an ISY994 w/Z-Wave built with 10+ Insteon modules and 2 Z-Wave devices. I have a major remodel starting tomorrow and the Philips LED lighting required ELV , so I purchased Leviton VRE06-1LZ dimmers. Anyhow, in preparation for their inclusion into the network, I saw that my Z-Wave firmware was out of date, so I updated it. As of last night my GE 12727 outdoor module was working fine, but since the firmware upgrade, I can't add/include it into the network. Since it's modular, I've even tried moving it within 10' of the ISY, but no luck. I've rebooted the ISY since the firmware update, but no success. Assuming that the 12727 didn't pack it in between yesterday and today, does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Geoff
mwester Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Try excluding the GE module first, then add it back in. Sometimes that's required for the z-wave device to successfully pair.
geoffschultz Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 How do I exclude a module that doesn't show up in the list of devices?
mwester Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 It's been a long time since I had to do that same process with one of my devices. As I recall, start by finding the appropriate menu option to remove/exclude a device (on the ISY ZWave GUI). Once in that mode, press or hold the magic button on your zwave device, or whatever one does to do an exclude... that will depend on your device, of course, so see the instructions that came with the GE module for how to exclude it. (The root cause of your problem, if it's the same one I had, is that the zwave device thinks it's already paired, but your ISY doesn't know that -- you have to get them both in sync in order to proceed.)
Chris Jahn Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 How do I exclude a module that doesn't show up in the list of devices? Hi Geoff, You will have to look at the documentation for your GE 12727 to see how to exclude the device, but on the ISY end of things, you go to the top level Z-Wave menu and select Remove/Exclude Device. After you exclude it, you may have to factory reset the GE 12727 before including it back into the network.
