travlynman Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Regarding programs (from day one). Even now into Beta 5.-- I have found that the ISY (seemingly) does not totally clear previous programs from the ISY memory. My standard is to change programs over the various seasons in an effort to keep up with standard time, daylight savings time and also vary the lighting in our home so that is varying from time to time. To date, I have noticed that if I modify a program rather than totally rewrite it, that some previous parts of the program that I have written come back to haunt the latest modified version. Is there a program memory "Clear All" that can be used? OR Should there be a program memory clear all that should be added to the program memory "save function" to avoid issues like this? Comments would be appreciated. Travlynman
larryllix Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 A Save after any program editing or delete is always necessary to write the changes out to your ISY. Until the Save is done the changes are only shown in the Admin Console and haven't actually taken place in your ISY. Did you know you can put programs into folders and then install folder condition that disable all the programs inside that folder? This is good method of enabling only select programs seasonally or daily, or any other condition (eg: if furnace = heat)
Chris Jahn Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 To date, I have noticed that if I modify a program rather than totally rewrite it, that some previous parts of the program that I have written come back to haunt the latest modified version. Hi travlynman, I have never run into this, can you provide an example that we could use to recreate the problem here.
travlynman Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Chris (and others) that have graciously answered this query: I have noted and tried all that has been suggested. I feel that the issue may have been the "SAVE" part of the equation. What I have done is made an entry into programs saved it, exported it and then read the program file with notepad. As expected, the new entry that was added was found with the edit function. This part proven, I then removed the "entry" saved the program and exported it to a new file. This time notepad edit did not find said entry. Much appreciate information thus far. Travlynman
Chris Jahn Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Hi Travlynman, Yes, this is the expected behavior, but one thing to note is that when you do an export, it includes even the unsaved changes in the export file. Saving everything first (as you have done) ensures that the export file you are looking at is actually what is running on the ISY.
