James Peterson Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I am pondering the idea of adding a $1 or $2 purchase that will allow a user to purchase an "All Access Pass" that only lasts a week or a couple days. I want to do this because of people that have used the app, but their trial has run out and would maybe want to test out a new feature before they buy it. Or maybe even someone that has a limited or lesser plan but looking to purchase a feature they don't already have. Thoughts?
larryllix Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Multiple weeks may be handy for a second family member away on a vacation that would not use the app normally.
sfhutchi Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Seems like a great way to allow someone to 'try again', as you add new features, but their original trial has expired.
jillande Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 This could also be a way for anyone who doesn't want to grant "Contacts" permission to try Agave with only a small investment, right?

Yes. If you did not want to enable Contacts permissions this would be a way access all features with a small investment.
TheFallenAngel Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I would do it for $1 for a week, it's a marketing strategy for you, not a way to make more $$.. Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk
larryllix Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 $2 per week and full purchase amount is reduced by the total rental amount total. May take some more record keeping.

I like that, but not really something the google purchase process takes into account. I had thought about this for various other purchase sequences, but no way to do it without maintaining my own system.
James Peterson Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Here is another option to consider. Since the "Contacts" permission is used to maintain the trial access, there are 2 routes this could take. 1) I make each week an individual purchase and Agave would require that "Contacts" permissions remain active during this period. This is the only way it would work, else the app would drop you back into your current no access or purchase level. 2) I make the purchase a subscription. This would not require any "Contacts" permissions and would be maintained as any other Agave in app purchase. Cancelable when your choose. in addition: 3) I could convert the original 30 free trial into this new subscription and offer a 30 day free trial period to that. I don't know if I can fully pull this off and I don't want new users to fell like I an just baiting them into a purchase. "BUT" this would remove the need for the "Contacts" permissions completely. And who knows, maybe some people would rather pay $2/month then an upfront charge of $99. I don't know. ???? Thoughts ????
larryllix Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Another option I didn't hear is an extendable trial period. 30 days free trial. 30 day extension for $5 additional extensions $5 per each 30 days. Just a thought, if even possible. Could simplify the trial/rental idea and if people want to rent forever or a two month away period?... so be it.

A straight purchase extension is an option but it requires that Agave maintains "Contacts" permissions. I do not mind this, but there have been quite a few concerns about this. I would just like to reiterate that ML 5 day trial also requires the "Contacts" permissions, it just doesn't ask for permission or notify the user.
