binaryman Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I've brought this topic up before, but it never really went anywhere... and my issue is getting worse.... I don't know if this is to be expected or what.... I have very few zwave devices. A siren (works flawlessly), door knob (works flawlessly), smoke detectors, an energy meter, and a room sensor. These last few devices keep throwing 'junk' into the isy.... sensors and devices that don't\shouldn't exist.... see screenshot, but for example: devices 4 and 8 are smoke alarms. somehow they keep adding 'multilevel sensor' and 'energy meter' to the list. Device 9 is an energy meter. should only have low battery, wattage, and accumulated wattage... however it's added 'water meter' and 'pulse meter' to the list. also under it's battery meter, I show 'humidity', 'distance', 'general purpose', 'speed', 'rain rate', as well as 'battery level'. under it's wattage meter it has of course 'current power', and 'total power'... but also added 'power factor', 'pulse count', and 'current voltage' none of which should be there... device 11 is a remote I only use for backing up zwave.. but it keeps adding 'multilevel sensor', 'water meter', 'energy meter' to the list..... device 12 is a temperature, humidity, and motion sensor... it keeps adding 'binary sensor', 'energy meter', 'pulse meter', and 'tamper alarm' to the list which shouldn't exist.... under the sensor itself, it has a whole ton of stuff that shouldn't be there like 'barometric pressure', 'general purpose', 'tide level', 'wind direction', 'seismic intensity', 'seismic magnitude', 'luminance', etc. etc. this 'junk' keeps showing up even after removing it. it's quite annoying, and I'm not sure what to do about it... I'd love to use zwave more but every time I add a device, more junk starts populating in my ISY... ideas?
Teken Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I've read this so called junk data is coming from the device(s). The UDI development team has decided to allow this fine grain detail to stream in instead of ignoring them. I believe they are working toward a method to filter these errant channels out.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Hi binaryman, What firmware version? We have added a lot of debugging tools to figure out where these come from in 5.0.x. With kind regards, Michel
binaryman Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 4.5.4 Seems like 5.0 been in development a long time.... when will we get there?
grahamk Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I have this issue with 5.0.2. I wish I could hide these someplace - they really cause a lot of clutter. If I delete them, they come back.
oberkc Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Create a junk room folder. Put them in there.
stusviews Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Last night, after playing with a new Z-wave device, an extraneous node appeared for an already added Z-Wave device. I deleted it. I'll see what happens after I add another Z-wave device in a few days. BTW, ISY firmware and UI is 4.5.4.
grahamk Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Create a junk room folder. Put them in there. I did that - now if i could just get the home automation dashboard to ignore that folder instead of putting it right in the middle of the page. :-/
oberkc Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I wonder if naming that folder "zjunk" would put it at the end of the page
Teken Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I understood you could hide the folder by using a *Tildy* (~).
stusviews Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 If it's hidden, then how do you make the folder reappear?
Teken Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 If it's hidden, then how do you make the folder reappear? LOL - I would assume *Hidden* would be for the various interfaces whether it be for Mobilinc. I don't believe its hidden for the ISY Admin Console but for the others like HAD etc.
oberkc Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I had the same question. (I never remember the tilde trick.)
Teken Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I had the same question. (I never remember the tilde trick.) Give it a try if you have the HAD interface or Mobilinc. I understood this was a method to do so and meet that need.
grahamk Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 My junk folder has a tilde - it still shows up in the dashboard. I need to dig into the html when I have a lot of extra time to see why. Alphabetic doesn't work for me either unfortunately. On the whole, It's a bit of a mystery to me how it's sorted. However - instead of workarounds, what would be nice is if I could remove these artifacts that I do not care about from the interface completely and not have them "magically" recreate themselves on a regular basis. That would be my ask from UDI.
