The Aeon keyfob is NOT fully supported in 4.5.4. Only one node appears.

Hi Folks

I am new to the ISY and still waiting for it to be delivered (5 days).

I am in design mode now and have purchased an Aeon Labs Key Fob (ZW088) that I understand to be a secure device (per specification sheet).  I have a bed ridden parent and want to provide a "button" for her to toggle (open/close) a Schlage BE469 bolt on the front door.  She is too old to figure out her iPad, I have tried ... , so the portal option is out.  Anyway enough of my problems ..

I was on the Aerotech site and is seems the capability to support scenes on the fob is still under development, is anyone aware of the plans for the ISY944i ZW Pro for this?

Beta maybe?  I would be willing to help out if so.

Hi Irakandjii,

We do not have a ZW088 yet, and thus haven't tested it.  The ISY may implicitly support the ZW088 if it uses standard Z-Wave command classes for all of its functionality.  In some cases (such as the Aeon minimote), we had to write custom code to support the Aeon device.

Ah ok, thank you.

I am still waiting for my ISY it looks like it is in customs coming from the USA.  I believe I will have a go with the 5.x Alpha/Beta, from my reading it may be stable enough for my purposes and I like the idea that I may be able to help out.

Thank you for the previous Replies.

I have now received my ISY.  I am very happy with it!

I have done a few Insteon things with great success.  So now I am moving down the zWave path.

As noted I have a ZW088 key fob from Aeotech.  Under Firmware 4.6.2 I tried to add this device and seem to have failed.  I do not see it in the device list.

In the logs I see:

  • Start Include ZWave   Mon 2018/01/22 08:44:49 AM System Log
  • Get Node Info ZWave ZW002_1 Mon 2018/01/22 08:48:52 AM System Log
  • Get Node Info ZWave <NULL> Mon 2018/01/22 08:48:52 AM System Log

So, am I correct in my understanding that:

  1. I need to move to the Beta release 5.X?
  2. In the Beta Release am I able to edit the "technical parameter" settings?

The Fob manual indicates I may need to set Parameter 250 to 1 byte.  Apparently this parameter defines the mode the fob is in (Primary controller or as a Secondary controller with Fob functions)

I have the dats sheets for the Fob, just need to figure our what to do with them.

My Goal:

  • My mother is bed ridden, she receives support from external agencies (nursing etc) and they need entry into the home.   Currently we have to leave the door unlocked for prolonged periods of time which causes anxiety.
  • I have a Schladge BE469 Connect (zWave) dead bolt I installed and originally had set up on a Logitech extended module, it opened and closed with the Logitech Apple App.  BUT it is too complicated for her to understand.  So I need the simplicity of a two button action (Open) & (Lock)
  • My intent is to do this with the ISY, the BE469 and the Fob.  In the future I would add programmatic controls for time of day etc for my own use.

Any guidance to my next steps would be appreciated.

I made some progress but suspect this device needs specific support :( not sure what I can do.

I finally got the Key Fob ZW088 to pair with the ISY (Currently running FW 5.0.11b)

Step 1 - Assign to zWave network as a secondary controller

It shows up in devices as

  •  ZW 017 Remote Control
    • choices in page are : [button] Wakeup    [controlbox] value  [dropdown box]  time unit = seconds
    • Query and write Changes buttons at bottom
  • ZW 017 Lifeline
    • Just a query button at bottom

This is the end of "Add to network phase" of the installation.

Step 2 - When the FOB is setup, next I need to assign the buttons to scenes.  Yet I do not seem to be able to do this.

From the ZW088 support web page I get the following instructions:

Setting your Key Fob into use/scene mode (secondary controller).

Each brand of Z-Wave gateway / hub has its own unique method for setting your Key Fob’s user mode as a Group or Scene controller. Please refer to your gateway’s user manual for detailed instructions on this. In some cases, you will need to utilize the technical parameter settings available in your Key Fob.

Parameter 250 [1 byte] = 1

1. Go to the parameter settings page, specific to your Key Fob, within your gateway’s user interface.

2. If it does not already exist, add a new row or column to add Parameter number 250.

3. Set the size of the parameter to be 1 byte.

4. Set the value in order to place your Key Fob into Group or Scene Mode. Group Mode has a value of 0, Scene Mode has a value of 1.

I have no way to set this parameter.

Any advice would be appreciated.
