mjpotts82 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Some of you have probably seen me post in a couple other threads about this switch but I think that I can achieve what I want with its limitations. I know that this switch does not work for on and off, I dont need that. I am trying to measure the watts drawn by my coffee maker as to turn on my kitchen lights. I did some testing today by just running hot water through the machine. What I found was that the switch does not report the electrical usage on its own but if I query the sensor while the the coffeemaker runs I do see the readings. So my questions, is this normal or is there someway to set an association so that the switch reports the values. If I cant set the associations can I run a query every, say 15 seconds for a few hours in the morning to read the values or will that bog the whole ISY/zwave network down?
mjpotts82 Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 I found this document on the Aeotec website which makes it seem that associations for the "watts" field can be set. Any idea what group the ISY is in? https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.freshdesk.com/data/helpdesk/attachments/production/6009584701/original/3%20Smart%20Switch%206.pdf?X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Credential=AKIAJ2JSYZ7O3I4JO6DA%2F20170228%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20170228T011936Z&X-Amz-Expires=300&X-Amz-Signature=53432163ef7913cb3730b4ca6fd9eff20c786c281c2dd6021617b1bc82eef2fd&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=Host&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf

Really, this switch does not work as an on/off module? I will be disappointed to learn this as this is what it is supposed to do. I just purchased two last week for just this purpose. Are you sure it doesn't work as an on/off module? Is there anyone else who can shine some light on this? PhanTomiZ
mjpotts82 Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 With firmware version 1.1 it will.
PhanTomiZ Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 With firmware version 1.1 it will. Good. So does it ship with this firmware? Either way, I broke down and ordered a Z-Stick the other day.
Scott847 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I found this document on the Aeotec website which makes it seem that associations for the "watts" field can be set. Any idea what group the ISY is in? There are several parameters that control how it reports to ISY. Following are what I'm currently using for monitoring a sump pump (parameter "P=", size "S="): -- P90/S1 = 1 [for automatic reports] -- P91/S2 = 50 [for reports on changes of 50+ watts] -- P92/S1 = 5 [for reports on changes of 5+% watts] -- P101/S4 = 15 [for reports of Watts, kWh, Volts, Amps] -- P111/S4 = 360 [for periodic reports every 360 seconds] More about this in this doc (that I think you already have): https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/attachments/6009584701
