sscnitdgp89 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, and to z wave in general. I am trying to connect a universal devices hub to my headless raspberry pi running Debian. I can SSH into the RPi, but cannot see a lot of GUI. So, I have to work out of the terminal most of the time. I understand the first step in setting up the universal devices hub is seeing if it is detected by my modem and router using DCHP. I am not able to see that. Has anyone else run into this problem before? Are there any additional settings I am missing? Also, is the JAVA admin interface a necessity for connecting more devices to it? I was hoping to use PyISY library to connect devices . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tim Wilson Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 It looks like the pyISY project web site is offline. See http://automic.us/projects/pyisy Anyone know if there's another one somewhere?
sscnitdgp89 Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 Thanks @cyberk and @Tim. I found the PyISY Github page, but the automic website seems to be taken down. I will work on thatand update my experiences here. I don't see many blogs with examples or tutorials about using PyISY. Has anybody come across or written one I can refer to? cyberk Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Not sure if this will help but checkout this post Python3 corner - using ISY REST https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=23986&share_tid=20957&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum%2Euniversal-devices%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%3F%2Ftopic%2F20957-Python3-corner---using-ISY-REST&share_type=t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KeviNH Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Is there a reason you're trying to do this the hardest way possible? I strongly recommend using the graphical "Admin" Java interface on the ISY994 to get yourself up and running and get your devices connected to the ISY and to write a few simple programs. If you are working remotely, you could use SSH with port forwarding to get remote access to the UDI on port 80 from a Java-enabled PC and web browser. Once you have the ISY up and running and the programs are doing what you want, you don't need Java and the WebUI to make REST calls to the ISY to turn devices on and off, adjust variables, and run programs.
