Quick question

I have an isy-99i pro, a 2413S plm and an ezflora.  If I want to factory reset the ezflora, should i unplug the isy and plm first?  Then plug in the ezflora while holding set first?  Then plug in the plm?  Then the isy?  Does  it matter?

Is this a terrible idea?

Thanks :-)

I would not do this. Try this:

1. Delete the EZFlora from the ISY. This will remove links to it in the PLM.

2. Now you can unplug the EZFlora and re-plug it while holding in the set button.

You should not need to shutdown the ISY or unplug the PLM.

Thanks, Andy.  I was scared, so I only unplugged the EZFlora from the wall and plugged it back in.  I'm apprehensive about losing any chance at the links that made things work properly a few weeks ago.

A program that hasn't run properly since I got the new PLM ran itself last night and I'm bewildered.  Fingers crossed the others run, too.

ETA:  The main reason I'm apprehensive is that I bought this house with all this stuff installed and I'm trying to learn as quickly as possible.  The previous owner didn't leave me any backup ISY files.

The EZFlora could have been locked up and the AC power cycle reset got it running again.

Do you know any more details for the module?

Like what the white stickers on the back side say.

Most of the Smartenit modules are all built on a base 2412 or 2413 main board with a custom daughter board they developed.

The ones on the 2413 base are subject to the same power supply issues as the hardware revision 1, 2413S PLM and hardware revision 2, 2443 Access Points.

EZFlora 5010A v92

On the sticker on the back, it says 19.AE.15.

During the past few days of me trying to start to understand any details about how this whole setup works, I can proudly say my crash course is starting to pay off.  19.AE.15 is the EZFlora address in the admin console.

BOOM!

Now I'll just wait and see if the 3 of the programs fail again.  The 'main' valve or hub or node (forgive me for not knowing the terminology yet, but I'd guess it's 19.AE.15.1???) program seems to work fine as I can see the details of when and how long it ran in the Programs/Summary tab.  Usually, that program shows as 'True' and the other 3 show as 'False' and at their starting time, nothing happens with the sprinklers, and the last finish time is exactly the same as the last run time.

By some miracle last night, 2 more of the programs apparently ran and now say 'True' and I don't really understand why.  But I am happy to feel like there might be progress.

I would do a couple of tests to eliminate problem with the sprinkler system, problems with the ezflora, or problems with the isy.

1) Each zone should be unique node in the admin console. Click on each node, and press the On button, one at at time, and make sure each actually zone is delivering water to the lawn as expected. If one or more don't work, use a laptop to turn the zone near the water feed outside. There should be an audible "thunk" sound. If you don't get that, it could be a valve or a problem with the ezflora.

2) Test the program. Go to the programs tab in admin console, use the mouse to "right click" on your watering program and select "run then" the program should run and operate the zones as expected

Hi Paul,

Yep, I've done exactly that a bunch of times over the past few days.  The five nodes are in the admin console and directly toggling on/off works with all of them.  'Run then' also works just fine, and it teases me by changing the value from 'false' to 'true.'

Everything seems to be where it should be, and I haven't changed a thing that was originally programmed by the previous homeowner.  The PLM died and since replacing it with a new (identical 2413S) the programs haven't been running on their own.

In other news, one of the programs runs a couple days a week for a few minutes on the back lawn at 11:45 am.

It just failed to do anything other than update the Programs/Summary tab with a 'Last run time' of 11:45:00 am.  The 'Last finished time' is also 11:45:00 am.

Posted

Ok, that's good. The next step is to display the program here so we can review what's going on.

Find the program in the programs tab.

RIght click on it.

Pick the Copy to clipboard at the bottom of the list.

Paste here in a post.

If there are related sprinkling programs, post them too please

OK. Good.

The Then part looks ok.

Something is wrong with the If,  can't figure out how its been running. I know you said it had been.

The problem is that the time can't be 11:45am and Sunset + 1 hour at the same time. It won't run this way

Which do you want, 11:45am, or Sunset + 1 hour?

I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out why the 11:45 command is even there.  When I first moved into this house, I took a look at the programs to get an idea of when they turn on/off and all that.  I don't recall seeing that 11:45 command at all.  It sticks out like a sore thumb to me, too.

I guess the guy who programmed it liked watering the lawn in the middle of sunny California days?

I'd just assume remove it and roll with the sunset + 1 hour.

ETA:  This is the program that blanks at run time and doesn't power up the sprinklers at all.

Yep. Start with that.

Based on my soil and grass type, I do water the hot parts of my lawn midday for 10 minutes per zone on some dayus under certain conditions. But its a separate program

My lawn looked glorious and lush before the PLM died and I noticed the grass wasn't the color of a lawn with programmed irrigation.

Of course, all I knew was the login info for the admin console and the ajax page and how to look fancy while switching lights on and off with mouseclicks.  Had no idea what ISY, PLM, EZFlora, ELK, 99i, 994i, etc.  I've learned a ton this past week (including that the guy should've emailed me a backup file).

Ok, I'll remove that 11:45 command.  Would you mind checking it out for me?  Just to be sure...

Thanks,

Dan

Yep, you've come a long way for sure!

I had a similar problem last year. I had 2 ezfloras,  A chipmonk shorted the line to one mastervalve and that stopped half my zones. I knew because the area covered by one of them started dieing last summer.

That's going to water everyday, is that what you want. To get back to to where you had it, click in the If area, and, click schedule towards the bottom, and make it look like the attached picture.

Ok, done.  If I hadn't clicked 'schedule' would it not have run?

Also, since it says 'false' should i 'run then' to make the program 'true' or just let it do its thing?

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help!

Hi Danny, np. Everybody here started at some point :)

It should say false, as the conditions in the if are false right now. They'll change to true an hour after dusk on the checked days.

If you want to test, temporarily change the time to 3 minutes from now and click save.  When the time is reached, it should change to true and start.

You can then right click and stop. Reset the time to 1 hour after sunset, and resave. Obviously check the first time at an hour after sunset

Paul

So in the end it may have been rather simple to fix.  Seems like something went wrong with the program's code or something when I replaced the PLM.  My fingers are crossed it'll just work properly now.  It gets pretty repetitive doing it all manually!

Cheers, brotha.  Until later when it fails :-)

It worked!

Of course, when I stopped it and set it back to run an hour after sunset, it became false again.  I just can't win.

Haha actually I had no real idea what the true false thing was all about until you explained it to me.  Thanks again!

False would be correct as it isn't after "an hour after sunset". It will become True again at that time to run your program.

Anytime a trigger is had on any element that is involved in the If section the logic is evaluated.

If the total logic statements results in True then the Then section will be initiated to run.

If the total logic statements results in False then the Else section will be initiated to run
