I was successful in linking a different 2477S (purchased at same time) and a 2477D. I tried moving my ISY closer to the light switches, but that did not help. Literally, 10 feet away from ISY.

Does anyone have any suggestions? For now, I have the 2477D & 2477S connected as a three-way switch. Eventually, I would like to use the 2477D somewhere else and put the 2nd 2477S where I had intended.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Bill

Can you repeat that with the admin console's event view set to level 3? That will give more details about the communications between it and the switch

As a guess, the comms at that end are really bad:

  • What is the load to be switched on and off? (LED lights, Fan, Low voltage lighting...)
  • Was the switch off when attempting to link? Try it turned off if so.

Paul

You're pairing a dimmer switch with a on/off switch which could be problematic depending on the type of load..  What switch is your load connected to?

What type of load is it?

Pairing a dimmer with an on/off switch is no problem at all. Both devices will behave as the one connected to the load. If the load is connected to the dimmer, then both devices will act as a dimmer, if the load is connected to the on/off device, then the dimmer will be an on/off device.

So, Techman, you are correct. The connected load matters.

Yes, but if the connected load is connected to the dimmer and it's a device that's not/shouldn't be dimmed then it could be a problem

Agreed, the connected device matters!
