stusviews Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Try Link Management. Link a Sensor, Motion Sensor. The new motion sensor will appear as 2842-222, not as 2844-222. Not to worry, you will have limited access to the options. If you want/need full control and want to stay with v4, then find/buy a Hub, set what you want and then add the sensor to the ISY.
Teken Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Hello Jim, The Insteon address is printed on the inside of the battery compartment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
barrygordon Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 I had the new Insteon MS II working. I had an Insteon Hub and that allowed me to set various options. I decided I wanted to have it powered as opposed to battery operated. Insteon wanted $10.87 to ship a $5 cable for the unit. In addition the MS II does not have a nice little notch to bring their cable out,. You either need to make the notch yourself or leave the battery cover off. I am getting annoyed with Insteon corporate policies. I looked into alternate MS devices and took a recommendation posted elsewhere on this site to look at the Aeon motion sensors, in particular the Aeon Multisensor 6 which has the same functionality as the Insteon MS II Plus some additional features. It comes with no batteries, but does take 2 CR123 cells for a claimed 2 years between battery changes. It does come with the necessary USB cable (2 meters) and has a proper notch to bring the cable out. It is not a corner mount but comes with a small mounting bracket and the unit itself is a little smaller than the MS II. It is a ZWave unit and is fully supported by UDI in the ISY994 with Zwave capability. Price wise when compared to the Insteon MS II plus cable, it is about the same price since I bought it from Amazon with free shipping via Prime. Got it in 2 days, not the week or so from Smarthomes. I am only using it for motion sensing and it is working fine for my needs.
stusviews Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Instead of a notch for the power supply cable, there a small (8.5mm) white round insert that can be removed.
barrygordon Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 I hadn't noticed that it was removable. Thanks

I have had 2 of Insteon's MS II sitting in boxes since they were released and still waiting for them to be added to the 5.0.xx firmware. The Aeon Multisensor 6 have been working well for me, and I just bought 2 more as I am tired of waiting.

What v5 version are you testing? I understood they are fully supported in the later v5 releases. I live on 12 MSes but all older styles so far.

The 4.6.2 branch does but offers almost no additional basic features. The lack of full support for this new sensor in the ISY Series Controller is starting to reflect poorly on the company. Having read numerous threads here it's believed 5.X.11 will have full support. Let's see if it actually supports all 16 embedded features this time around!! It's only been 12 freaking months since launch.

No point mounting them on the wall.
larryllix Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I have the ability to put them back in the box after trying them. No point mounting them on the wall. LOL. I figured it was just weird wording but wanted to be sure. I am hearing others say they are fully functional except for the new features added, whatever they are. I don't need any yet so hopefully this will be resolved by 2021, when the new v5 comes out.
stusviews Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I set the duration and light sensitivity using an Insteon Hub and then added them to the ISY. It's a work-around as I happen to already have a Hub.
bcdavis75 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I posted a question on a similar thread but after reading this thread... I think this might be the more appropriate place. I have added a MS to my ISY 4.6.2. The node is there and I can query it and read the links table etc. However, it simply doesn't seem to detect motion. The current state box in the sensor node is empty. And sure enough, it won't trigger a scene when setup as a controller. Nor will it trigger a program. Any help is appreciated.
stusviews Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I'm also having difficulty with the 2844-222 MS that formerly worked well. I'm just getting ready to work on it. As a test, manually link the MS to any responder. The test using the SET button. Does the linked device respond?

No idea why.
stusviews Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Gremlincs. They travel in groups of two, hence dual-band gremlincs.
